OMG! Why can't I get off the toilet!!?

i am 1 week out of surgery. Everything is going fine. My liquids are great. What isn't great is my protein. The Isopure makes me nauseous so I dare not go near it. So does the bariatric advantage. The only protein I can take is premier. BUT... not 5 minutes after I drink it, I am on the bowl and it's emptying out. What the hell do I do to get my protein this next week without puking or stuck on the toilet? I go back to work Monday and this just isn't an option!!

Call your surgeon. Vomiting is not normal.

Try protein powders from different protein sources. Options include hemp, pea, egg, and a few others. Try mixing with almond milk instead of cow milk. Experiment.

I'm not vomiting, I'm just nauseous after drinking it. I don't use regular milk, I use lactaid. I've tried diluting it as well to no avail.

Lactaid is still cow milk. Try switching to a non-whey protein powder and a non-cow milk.

It may also be the whey protein. I have an aversion to all whey protein, and it makes me terribly gassy and bloated and yes, sometimes the toilet, too. I found egg protein didn't give me that effect. Jay Robb egg white protein is a good one.

Another culprit can be artificial sweeteners.

how fast do you drink it, I had to sip mine over about 1/2 hour or so, if you are on some time of stool softener, reduce the amount you are taking at last for a couple days, also if you are taking vitamins make sure you dont take them all at once, ie separate the iron, multi, calcium & meds at least an hour apart . but yes call the surgeon.

Oh gosh. You're having a time of it aren't you? It'll get better eventually! I wonder if you're not tolerating the whey protein. Try going to GNC or supplement store near you if you have one and getting samples of different types of protein powders and see if there is one you can handle. But I agree with Gwen. Let your surgeon's office know you're struggling. Your extreme nausea and the earlier vomiting is not the norm.

You might also try chewing a Lactaid tablet before the Premier and see if that helps. I developed a short-lived sensitivity to lactose on all those protein shakes and the Lactaid saved me until I could eat resl food.

I only use lactaid! I plan on calling my dr on Monday. I was just wondering if anyone else had this experience.

Lots of people have. The suggestions I made are things that can help.

I use Lactaid in my coffee and I don't have any problems. I also drink it alone. No issues. It is only when I take in protein. Whether it's whey, isopure, bariatric advantage...it all causes diarrhea. So I have to guess it's safe to assume that it isn't the Lactaid, if it doesn't cause problems with anything else.
