Good morning, all, and happy birthday to Mersh!

I'm busy busy with school work today since I'm going out of town on Thursday for another long weekend trip. Thankfully this is the last one for the summer and then I'll be home for a while aside from monthly visits to my mom. I'm so looking forward to that "being home for a while" thing! It's been an extremely busy summer and I'm ultimately a homebody at heart.

QOTD: What would you do if your 6-year-old child's favorite toy, a talking doll, started trying to convince them that they needed a new friend - the next doll in the company's line?

1: protein shake
2: leftover sous vide smoked chuck roast
3: instant pot garlic parmesan chicken, pasta for the guys

liquid and vites: on track
exercise: yoga class if I can tear myself away from school long enough (normally tuesday would be a running day, but I need to run monday and wednesday this week due to my weekend trip.)

How about you?

Happy Birthday Mersh! Have a wonderful day!

Our company arrived at dinner time last night and is still sleeping. It is a little cloudy today so I'm mulling over what to do.

QOTD: I'd return the doll to the store as defective and get the child a different doll as a replacement. I'd call the company and complain and put negative reviews online.

2 Years, 4.5 months post-op (maintaining at goal for 20.5 months)

Always lots of coffee...

B: eggs, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: some kind of fish (going out)

S: cottage cheese with fruit

Good morning from the forest of central mass. Happy birthday mersh!!

Qotd: tough question. I would tell the child that if they want the next doll, i would buy it on their next birthday/christmas and privately complain to the company (Not tell the child). My daughter loved American girls books but never played with dolls. Two weeks after xmas she told me she wanted an AG doll. I said she would have to buy it with her own money since xmas just passed. Her reply=i don't want it that much... Lol.

B: egg, sausage toast

L: cheese and crackers

D: steak tips, cukes, tomatoes

LOL! "I only want it enough to buy with YOUR money, mom." :D

And, hey, I feel her there. There are definitely things that I wouldn't mind getting as gifts but that I would NEVER spend my own money on.

It's my kid's FAVORITE toy, so it would be hard to just get rid of. I also assume that I couldn't just disable the talking part, because that would diminish a lot of the enjoyment most likely.

And.. I wouldn't want to lie and be like "it broke" or "the batteries died and they're not replaceable."

So, I think I'd contact the company and social-media bomb them about how uncool this was, in hopes they'd push an update to stop the advertising. (Or maybe it's like Kindle and you can pay extra to have it come "without special offers?")

I'd explain to my child that it's not feasible to replace things as soon as the new shiny model comes out and give them examples of this in my own life - not the newest model of car, not the newest iPhone, etc, etc.

Since I'd be the sort of parent who gave their child an allowance, I'd let my child know how much the new doll cost and that they could save their money to buy the newer one if that's what they wanted to do.

I'd also remind the child how much they love current.doll, and suggest that keeping current loved.doll was a better option than replacing it with a new doll.

And I'd NEVER buy my kid a doll from that company EVER AGAIN. :P

Good morning guys! It's Rylan and Nyah's first day of school so we were all up extra early. They only had a touch of first day jitters. Such cuties. Tonight is Beyonce and Jay Z!!!

QOTD: Gwen I don't know why but this question made me laugh. I pictured sort of a Chuckie situation and my solution would be to toss it in a very deep lake with a brick tied round it's plastic ankle. Then I saw everyone commenting that they would contact customer service and figured I may be overreacting lol.

B - coffee and protein

L - yogurt and almonds

D - Kung pao chicken

E - strength training

LOL! If my hypothetical kid had a doll like Chuckie, I'd definitely opt for the deep lake + brick. Or to kill it with fire.

Thank you all for the birthday wishes! When I read them I was smiling from ear to ear. We are going out to not do anything too much today, but later going out to lunch. I ended up getting to pick where we eat, so we're going to where I can get the best white fish I've ever had. It's cheap to boot!

I went around and around about if I wanted to treat myself on my birthday, or not. I ended up deciding to, my treat is blackberries and coolwhip! I will buy the blackberries today, I can't wait. Haven't had blackberries all summer.

Will try to add in another 100 calories or so sometime today. Eating is hard work. Stupid eating
