I was surprised, came away with a booklet, shows info fo 2 weeks before surgery and the after period till forever. Nothing about the now diet. Guess he saves that for the nutritionist. 6 months of monthly visits doctor and nutritionist visits.

First step taken.

Congrats on this step! I think I got all of my specific diet information from the nutritionist at my center, so that seems plausible!

Great! That is what I figured, but was a little surprised he hadn't suggested any Chang. But reading the booklet, some might scare off. I have read enough, I knew what was coming, the two weeks before and the afterwards.

cheers, thanks for the info.

I had my first visit today too. A bit overwhelmed. Lots to do. I also got a booklet as well as a checklist of things to schedule (I see the dietitian 1/16) My surgeon said the process is about 3 months for my situation/insurance. It feels real now.

My nutritionist appointment is the 27th December. My doctor said a 6 month as directed and necessary for my insurance approval. A PCP and physiatrist approval letter needed. As well as possible Pulmonoligist and Cardiac clearances. He also, stressed, I read over the strict guidelines and diet which starts from approval to surgery and mostly liquid 2 weeks before surgery. Because if you cannot imagine or follow those rules or guidelines you should want to reconsider. Mainly, because of the complications which can occur if you vary from the diet especially in the beginning couple months. Said many, can easily forget this is a tool, needs us to lay the groundwork and do the work for it to properly be successful. Found him friendly, straightforward and knowledgeable but not sugar coating anything. Any mis step brings you back to step one, no arguments.
