Hello ladies,

I just realized that my calcium pills only give me 50% of daily recommended!! What brand are you all using? I would like something that is going to offer more than that.

Thank you for your advice :)

Can you just take multiple pills?

Daily RDA for women is 1,000mg, so I'm guessing you have 500mg pills. The ASMBS recommends 1,200 - 1,500mg per day, so you can just take three pills at once :)

Anyone, WLS or not, can only absorb about 500mg of calcium at a time. To meet the ASMBS guidelines, that means we need 3 doses per day, of 500mg, that must be 2 hours apart to better allow absorption.

Don't take iron within 2 hours of calcium. Calcium will block iron absorption.

Oh, it muyst also be calcium citrate. Calcium carbonate, tricalcium phosphate, and other types of calcium are absorbed very poorly.
