Time to be accountable

Time to hold myself accountable. I had RNY March 2012. My highest weight was 361 sw 331 and my lowest was 189. I am now at 221. I still don't drink soda and no sugary foods but the carbs have to go. Time to get back on track and quit grazing. I have been through a lot of stress lately with being laid off at work and my mother and her journey for her lung transplant. I know what I need to do and today's the day!!! Anyone else in the and boat and ready to get back on track.

Oh My! This is my letter! I haven't been on the site in quite a while and decided today was the day to start over. I'm almost 3 years out and have regained 22 lbs. after a 100 lb. loss. My 91 year old mother lives with me and has dementia, which I was learning to deal with. Last January she had a slight stroke and it has been downhill for me ever since. I feel so alone all day long as meaningful conversation is a thing of the past. I am 68 years old and don't have the patience I used to and am just not coping well. And we all know what our old selves did when we couldn't cope...eat. I know it's wrong and I don't feel good, but can't seem to stop my grazing and carb intake. I am going to start the 5 day pouch test today in hopes of getting a restart on my life!

I wish you the best and a positive turn around. Keep us posted

Never dreamed that I could feel this good about myself again.  Looking forward to many healthy years now.

I am three years out this December and I'm going back 25 pounds I feel no more resistance and I just want to keep eating I have started exercising and don't leave the gym until I've lost 1000 cal I also had a juice cleanse for seven days where you do nothing but drink juice and lost 11 pounds I haven't gained back the majority of the 11 pounds I don't have a support group or I have moved to and I believe that's one of the reasons why I gained back the 25 pounds I am desperate to try and start over I keep trying over and over and fail :( I don't want to go back after losing 120 lbs

I hear you and am in the same boat. I'm 5 1/2 years out. While still at a much healthier weight than when I started, still considered obese as I've gained about 50lbs back from my absolutely lowest weight. I'm unhappy and struggling to get back on track where I need to be. Calories wise, I'm within where I should be I've been told. Exercise wise-I suck. Moderation has been my key, but I have been guilty of overdoing even the right stuff. Now that winter is setting in and I'm SOOOOOO sensitive to cold, holing up under blankets to keep warm is my hearts desire. I'm going to creep Obesity Help more for inspiration and help. This is going to have to be my support group as the ones locally are crap, or disband after a few months. Power to you dear.

Hi, I'm Naomi, I am almost 3 years out, and I have gain 26lbs. Sunday, I went to buy some pants and I realized that I went up one size, it felt like hitting rock bottom. I'm trying to regroup, watching my diet, as well as the GYM. That damn candy and those hideous cookies, smdh! Christmas is coming, so I better be good.

I'm going thru a lot, as well, life changes. I'm in college, going for a BSN. In January, I'm going to be moving to PR to finish my BSN and to spend more time with my aging father. I'm also in a relationship, he lives in PR, so I'm moving in with him, we have plans to marry by the end of next year. I'm constantly in anxiety mode.

I hope we can all regroup ourselves and have a good outcome, as we first did.

You have already taken the hardest step by saying enough is enough and now I want to get back on track.  Here are some steps I hope will help you. They helped me...

Planning/Preparing

Remember when we were preparing for surgery?  How many meetings, classes and such did we attend?  We were told the more prepared we were the better our chances were for success.  And they were right. Go through the house, car and work place and get rid of trigger foods.  Stock up on foods that will keep you on track. I removed every bad carb/sugar temptation and replaced it with lots of protein, veggies, grains and fruits.

Journaling

Get back to journaling.  This will help you identify when you feel like eating, stress factors and any triggers in your life.  Once you identify these factors, this will help you put tools in place to keep you from eating.  It became clear I was not taking time for me anymore. I worked my day job and then spent the rest of my time caring for my husband.  It was easy to reach for fast, prepackaged food.  Since I purged my home I have to eat clean as there are no other options LOL

Use a tool to track you're eating and exercise like Getting Started with Health  Tracker.  Once I started to track ever bite and drink it became clear why I had gained.

Goals/Rewards

Make a list of goals for yourself.  Make them realistic and small.  Some of mine were move more, purge all junk from my home, eat more protein.

Food

In general, a long term post-weight loss surgery eating plan includes foods that are high in protein, and low in fat?, calories, and sugar. Important, vitamins and minerals are provided as supplements. (if you had a different surgery adjust this to your food plan).

Water

Water is our Best Friend. I have to say I never went back to pop or any bad drinks, however I was drinking tea like crazy. What is wrong with drinking tea?  I was either using sugar or 3 equals and 3 sweet n lows per 32 ounce glass.  So I was either pushing to be diabetic or get cancer.  I found once I started carrying a bottle of water around 24/7 (yes had one at my bedside) I lost the cravings for the sugar and I KNOW those artificial sweeteners are not good for me. Look I am old and if you add up all the artificial sweeteners I have consumed I am sure I am at the rat in the lab getting cancer threshold.

MOVE!

I can't say enough about how key this was for me. The reason I kept my weight off for almost 10 years was no matter what, I kept moving.  If I could not go to the gym I would walk. I loved Zumba, bootcamp workouts, lifting weights. When I stopped, the weight started coming back.  So for me I am starting slow to avoid injury by walking and using some of the workouts on my Demand TV.  Find something you love to do and it won't feel like a pain in the *** to do daily.

Support

If it's an option "run" don't walk to a support group.

Keep me posted on how you are doing
