Recently went to program about dementia. Speaker said people who have weight loss surgery are more likely to have dementia because we do not absorb enough from our food. Never heard this before. Anybody know anything about this?

Hi leverett1945,

I have been around for years and this is the first I heard of this connection. May I ask who was the speaker so I can do some additional research? Also, you may want to post this on the main forum to get more replies on this.

Are you getting enough B12? I have been injecting twice a month for a few years now, and if I lag and fall behind, my immediate experience is memory lags and low-level confusion every day.

Intrinsic Factor (or the lack of same) is a real thing. Give injecting a try. I inject twice a month, because post-WLS, it doesn't matter how much you consume in your diet, you simply can't absorb it. And a lack of B12 causes all kinds of mood/mental issues.
