Where are my fellow 40 somethings?

This forum is very inactive.  I'm having Gastric Bypass later this year- not sure of the date as yet.  Just wondering how others are doing with their surgeries, weight loss, adjusting to life afterwards and so on.

Most of the action is on the main boards. Try the rny forum, much more people there than here.

Yes thank you - was hoping to hear specifically from others in their 40s but glad for all the support on these boards.

I had my RNY a the age of 42, 7.5 years ago. The first 2 years were a big adjustment, but things are great now. I don't believe having surgery in my 40's made it any more difficult than if I were younger. I got to goal and have maintained my loss.

That's amazing! Good for you. I will be the same age you were when I have my surgery.

I just had my surgery in December prior to my 42nd birthday. I am doing great, no issues and losing weight . My surgeon told me this week that i will be one of the lucky ones and will lose more then expected . It is an adjustment but well worth it. I think my age has nothing to do with my results.

good luck

Hi Teena.

I had my RNY in 2005. I lost half in the first year, then was offered a job opportunity (which was a HUGE distraction) and ended up being my downfall. I stopped losing weight but recently (June 2016) picked up on it again. I had gone from my original low of 265 up to 297. I have now lost all of that and am back at my original lowest weight and am continuing to push forward!

I haven't found any support groups yet and would love to make some friends on here. Come check out my blog "ManyBlessings".
