potassium

So I looked on line and potassium deficiency can cause memory issues.  I headed to my CVS to get some potassium and they only had one kind, potassium gluconate.  Don't know if that is a good one or not.  So my multis were on sale so while I was getting that, I looked at the list and guess what, no potassium!  So I looked at Centrem which I do the generic of, no potassium.  I looked at every multi in the case and only one had potassium and it was only 2%.  The suppliment I got was 3%.  That means I would need to take a bottle a day to even get close to 100%, much less 200%.  WTF
I see the PCP tomorrow and am going to contact my Nut and see what she says but this seems crazy.
I do eat potassium rich foods, greens and beans, but obviously, since I have been trying to low carb it, I haven't been getting enough.  What to do now???  I guess the only other option is to try to get it in food.  Good thing I like greens and beans.

What I use is over-the-counter chelated postassium (as Potassium Gluconate) in 99mg pills. Yeah, Vitalady carries it. The average banana has 800mg of potassium so I take 8 pills a day. You might ask for a prescription if that would work better for you. I want to say it comes in 1000mg doses.

My mom had potassium prescribed by the doc and they were these big yellow things. But it worked for her. Maybe your doc can do it too.

Bananas have potassium!

I'm not big on bananas but I'm even less big on memory loss.  I'll ask tomorrow about a script.  Thanks.

Bananas are a great source of potassium. How about making a banana bread and using protein powder, splenda and no sugar added applesauce? I make one that's delicious (got the recipe from a friend).

I agree with loverofcats. Potassium can be very dangerous in unskilled hands. that is why there are not many products on the OTC market and they are in small limited dosages.

This is one time I sincerely DO NOT recommend self dosing.

Good luck and keep us posted.
