body dysmorphia is alive and well... x-post

I am done losing, and done (I hope!) with the bounce-back that I needed.  I look good dressed, and, thanks to reconstruction, look good undressed.  My legs are not, by any stretch of the imagination, big.  They are toned, and if I flex those muscles, they look impressive.  But I can wear pretty much any boot I've tried: riding boots, to the knee, over the knee, even those adorable JLo thigh highs with no problem.  As a matter of fact, the tailored knee high boots I'm wearing today have a gap at the cuff even with a buckled strap.  This is a huge change from my previ0ous life, when even if I weighed an appropriate amount, I had to purchase large-calf boots to get them on.  So I know from objective data that my legs are FINE.

Nevertheless, here I am sitting at my desk trying to focus my attention on writing reports, and I look down and say to myself "wow, my legs are huge.  Thunder thighs, here I come!"  Then I whapped myself upside the head, because that's where the issue is, not my legs.

I guess this is just to put it out there that, no matter what we've done to get our heads on the right planet, sometimes they're still in outerspace, and we may need to be vigilant about not letting them play games with us.

Yup - I'm in the same place!  Thunder Thighs....they're coming back!  So, for 1 whole year of my life, I was really happy with my thighs, even with the shar-pei skin... now its filled in, so it looks better in shorts and bathing suit, but not so mu*****lothes (opposite last year)...

AND - I know they're still ok... I'm beating myself up because they're not as thin as last year.

I feel the same way when I sit down.  My pants fit great (maybe a lttle loser) so I"m figuring that I must be getting use to them being thinner and forgetting what they looked like before.  I hope that makes sense...it does it my head....LOL

I look good dressed and I look good in the dark.....

Can't help with the thigh issue right now, one is still almost 2x as big as the other, LOL.  Amazing thing is that they both still fit in my pants.

I did get brave and try on a pair of knee boots and they went over my calfs, I never thought that would happen.  Didn't buy them but may have to after the holidays.

Isn't that a wonderful feeling the first time boots actually go on - and FIT?  I've turned into a boot addict - 6 pairs at last count, not including the 2 ankle pairs that would have fit anyway!

Isn't it a wonderful feeling the first time you put tall boots on - and they FIT?  I'm turning into a boot addict: 6 pairs at last count, not including the three pairs of ankle boots that would always have fit!

edited to add: OH is playing games.  I submitted the first one, it didn't show, I refreshed and it didn't show, so I assumed I'd hit cancel by mistake and retyped.

Ooops.

I know exactly how you feel.  I love what Roz said!!  I get to thinking about how I can get my stomach better and then I look at myself with my clothes on and it looks almost totally flat!!

The tops of my legs are ok as long as they are covered - they look pretty bad.

I do try to remind myself that a lot of the issues I have, I would probably just be having them due to age and it would probably be worse if I were still large on top of that....

I love my boots and wear them almost everyday during the winter.  Even after 2 1/2 years, sometimes I see myself in passing a window or mirror and think "Who is that?"!!
