Hi Jen,

Welcome to LWs.

My journey began at 183, and I am only 5' so my starting BMI was 35. I have gotten feedback on "not looking that heavy" but the scale doesn't lie and BMI is just math...

Every journey is unique but I can share my journey as a LW and even though it hasn't been very long (5 weeks) it has been more successful in my mind.

Pre -op I was 171 lbs, at 1 week I was 161 lbs, 1 month 148 lbs. I can see where it has slowed somewhat, and adding in walking 1 mile a day helped me pick up the pace somewhat.

I am a little less than 20 lbs from my goal and I am sure it will continue to slow but my follow up appt with my surgeon is April 4th, and I would be thrilled to be at my surgeon's goal then. Of course I know it will take upping my exercise even more. His goal for me is 128, which is no longer overweight for my height. However, at 118 I felt amazing, and felt like I looked amazing, that was about 2007 - 2008.

Sorry I cannot offer more data... best wishes on your journey!

You make a great point about "breakfast foods" just getting the right nutrients needs to be my focus.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Hey Lightweights,

I just hit my 3 week point and am now on "regular" foods. I have the list of foods but I feel like nothing really even sounds good. I have tried cheese, which was good. I tried chicken, I got sick, like it was stuck and I was coughing up something clear for 30minutes to an hour. So no chicken for a while!

Today I picked up canned tuna & canned carrots. I just feel stuck for ideas. Help LW Friends?

Hi Teri,

Welcome to lightweights, tomorrow is my 3 week mark. I am also 5 feet, and got similar comments. However, 35 BMI is 35 whether you are 5 feet or 6 feet.

The liquids were so tough for me too. I try every day to get enough but good grief, I am like you, I feel full and I quit as soon as I do. Water is a daily struggle, I get a great start but by the afternoon around 4 I feel like I cannot drink anymore water.

Congrats on loosing the meds! That has been a NSV for me as well. I told only family & 1 friend so far. I am more comfortable now than I was pre - op talking about it but just like the rest of my medical history I don't share it as a general rule.

Tomorrow is my BIG day, solids! I am also nervous about making sure I am eating the right foods, but also worried about getting enough protein eating tiny amounts. So I am sure shake days are still in my future. Keep us updated on your post op appt and how you are doing.
