It has been a while... but I am still working on things
Jun 08, 2010
I had the baby in October. He is a beautiful boy and had added so much to our lives.
Unfortunately I also gained quite a bit of weight with the prengancy. I actually didn't gain more than 10 pounds until my 6 month of pregnancy. Then, in 8 weeks time I gained 30 pounds. I got a little addicted to cereal and milk. I actually drank a 3 gallons of milk most days.
So, I was a bad girl. I left the hospital with my 8 pounds baby, weighing 40 pounds more than I did when I got pregnant with him. I didn't get a fill again until December.
So... since December how am I doing? It is progressive. I am losing weight very differently this time. I am back to where I was before I got pregnant but it took me until now to get there... yes I have a 8 month old baby... so it took me 8 months to get back... but only 6 months of trying. (of course that is where I was when I got pregnant not where i was two months after since I ost 15 pounds after I got prego) I am kicking my crap in gear again. I used to always lose 10 pounds a month.. no matter what without trying... but I was religious about counting my carbs...and i never drank anything but water. Now I am drinking alcoholic beverages and eating more carbs than I should. But odd thing is that I was working out like crazy and the scale wouldn't move AT ALL... then I would take a week off and drop 5 pounds... apparently the more I work out my body wants to hold on ot the weight. So, I took a break from the workouts from the past month and my weight just kind of stood still. Which wasn't bad.. since I didn't gain.
So, I am going back to my basics that I was doing before I got pregnant... which is basically eat no more than 30 carbs a day. Drink tons of water. Do an hour on my treadmil 5 days a week.
I will check in later to let you know how I am doing. Keeping my fingers crossed.
By the way... I am no way consider this a failure. It is important to remember I weighed 294 pounds 2 years ago. Now I weigh 212. Although I gained weight while I was pregnant... I haven't gained weight in any month other than the pregnancy. Without even watching what I eat I do not gain weight... I just do not lose weight either. I have never kept weight off for any lenght of time before this. So If you look at things.... I have still lost 82 pounds in a two year time period and kept it off. That is a lot of weight. Am I at where I want to be.. heck no. But, I know I will get there.
Still losing weight, still pregnant :)

My doctors are not worried about the weight loss, but I am concerned about it only because I am trying to not lose weight. I am going to Dr. Baptista next Friday and going to ask for a slight unfill. Maybe then I can start eating more proteins and vegetables.
Right now I have to eat something every couple of hours to even get enough good in... unfortunately a lot of what I have been eating has been chocolate or other high carb foods. It disolved easily and goes down well. Heck even pudding takes time to go down. I feel it sitting on top of my band for at least 20-30 minutes after eating it. I can only have a few bites of meat at any one sitting... most meals I have consist of less than a 1/2 cup of food. Sometimes much less.
I am under 200!

I am pregnant. My obgyn thinks it is okay if I keep losing weight. My band doctor doesn't see a need for me to get an unfill unless I start to have problems eating.
I am currently not focusing on losing weight. While I still am not eating a lot of carbs, I have taken a break from counting every carb. I have added a few more snacks to my day. But, I still lost 13 lbs last month.
It would be great to make it to the end of the pregancy without weighing more than 200 pounds but I will not be too upset if I start to gain a few pounds.
I am below 210!

I have lost 47 pounds since I had the lap band on September 9! Since I started my weight loss journey in November '07 I have lost 84 pounds.
I am getting so close to being under 200 pounds. If everything goes well I should be there before March. I can't even remember when I was below 200 pounds... maybe after I lost weight on phen-fen in 1995. I know I weighed in above 200 when I got married in 1997. So it has been at least 10 years since the scale didn't begin with a 2. I am starting the more important countdown on my weightloss to date, the countdown to 199.

Okay, so I actually made my goal of being under 220 for Christmas. The week before Christmas I actually hit 218... then my parents visited and I made cookies and I started misbehaving. So, I actually went to 220 again then fell to 218 again before new years. So, I screwed up... I ate carbs. I admit it. But, I don't regret it.... because I am back on track now and I really didn't let things go too bad.
I have decided that my band feels much tighter when I am on my period. I didn't get a fill at my visit in December but I was thinking of requesting a small fill at my next appointment, then my period visited me and I started PBing my meals and have been eating hardly anything to feel full. So, do I get a fill so I feel that way the rest of the month and risk not being able to eat at all while I am on my period? I will have to discuss that with my doctor next week.
For Christmas my mom got me the Zumba DVD set and I love it. My husband also went to Sams and bought me a cool treadmill with a tv in it. I have promised myself that I will do the treadmill every day at least 30 minutes and my Zumba DVDs at least 5 days a week. So far, so good.
I will at least post again in the next month... or when I hit under 210, which I hope isn't too long from now.
In the 220s!

So, what am I doing at the gym? I am doing water aerobics, Zumba, weights and walking/running on the treadmill. I actually have been doing 3 miles on the treadmill each time!
So, what are you doing to get your heart rate up?
In the 230s....finally

First Fill!

I was worried that Dr. Baptista would be upset with me. But, when he came in and looked at my weigh-ins he informed me that I had lost 10 pounds of fat since that appointment! Wow! He said I must have built muscle or be carrying extra water and that is why the scale wasn't showing it. So, I am excited to say that I have lost 10 pounds of fat in only 3 weeks!
For the past two weeks I have been spending at least four hours a week working out at the gym... either on the treadmill, in Zumba class or water aerobics.
I am feeling pretty good. My total fill is up to 5.5 now (apparently there was all ready 1.5 in there).
I will be on liquids for the next few days... I am looking forward to Monday when I can start to eat mushies again. :)
What a difference a couple days makes!

Yesterday I went for my post-op check-up and it was pretty much a waste of a 5 hour drive. I was in the appointment for maybe 15 minutes. They just looked at the sutures. Told me to just let them fall out naturally and said a few things about sticking to the program and that was it.
When I got home from Jacksonville around 4 p.m. yesterday I took a long nap. Of course, I also ate some real food too. I cheated a bit and had some mashed potatoes and they stuck with me for an extremely long time.
Today I got up at 9 a.m. and haven't taken a nap yet. I still have pretty low energy but at least I am awake. So far today I have had 1 scrambled egg, 1/4 cup of turkey salad and egg salad that was made from one egg. I am able to drink more too. I am full very easily. Which is good. I do feel a bit deprived... so I still have food issues to work out.
So. I have to keep repeating to myself that I only get 30 carbs a day. Carbs are not my friend. Sugar is not my friend.
