"My first impression of Dr. Daniel Deziel was that he is friendly and caring individual(surgeon)and very easy to talk to....all my fears were put to rest after my initial consult with him.
I liked his no BS approach to WLS....he told me it would work and why...he drew a diagram and explained the surgery to me.
He doesn't sugar coat any of the details....risks, how behavior has to be modified, ect.
My impression of him only got better as I progressed though my pre-op,surgery and post-op period....Dr. Deziel really does care :)
He came up to my room along with some of his interns and he actually sat down and talked to me for a while(He is a Professor of Surgery @ Rush)... A busy guy...
You can check him out over at http://www.usurg.com/
The office staff are very pleasant over there also...Dr. D's assistant, Renata, is great!
Anytime I had a question or concern, She was usually available to take my call or would call back very soon after I called.
That was very important to me.
Aftercare:
It is structured enough for me...I do what ever my doctor and my nutritionist tell me to do...
They have a Bariatric program over there but it is not all"in your face"- and you don't have to go to pre-op seminars and meetings....which suited me very well.
They do all work together there...like surgeons, nutritionist, and pysch dept.
I was able to do all my bloodwork, upper GI,and other test in my hometown of Rockford then my PCP forwarded all that to them.
I rate Dr. Deziel very highly...his surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.
He is very easy to talk to and he really is a caring doctor.
I feel really good about my decision to have WLS and him to be my surgeon.
Thank you for giving me the tool I needed and a chance at a normal life, Dr. Deziel :)
