Argghhh

Feb 17, 2007

I've been flucuating between 192 and 196.  I really want to see the 80's!  I'm considering doing protein shakes for a couple of days to see if I can break through this darn plateau.  I really wanted to lose 20 pounds by Easter, and it doesn't look like I'll make it.

My trip to Montevideo got postponed - I can't say I'm unhappy about it, since now I have a weekend.

Travel Schedule

Feb 04, 2007

I travel for a living.  Many think that it's glamorous traveling around the world.  Those that actually do it know that it's not all it's cracked up to be.

Next week I'll be in Mexico City for a day and a half, then Phoenix.  Week after that we've got a customer from Sweden visiting, so I'll be out most nights entertaining them.  Week after that, I'll be traveling to Montevideo, Uruguay to meet with a customer from Argentina.  Then back home for week, Customer Conference in Dallas.  After that, Hanoi, Vietnam, followed by Singapore.  Somewhere in there a trip to Stockholm might be inserted.

It will be a challenge the next couple of weeks - eating and drinking are the way we decompress while on the road.

Yep, Another Plateau

Feb 02, 2007

I guess my body is just adjusting.  The last two weeks I've gone between 191.8 and 196.  This morning I was 192.6.  I worked out at Curves 3X this week, haven't had a drop of alcohol for 2 1/2 weeks, and have been eating right (Kashi cereal for breakfast, Lean Cuisine for lunch and dinner).  I did go on a binge a week ago with ice cream, but I'm being good now.

I'm going to NYC Easter weekend with a friend, and I told her my goal is to drop 20 pounds by then.  So far it's not happening, but then I think my body holds on to the weight for a long time, then I drop 10 pounds quickly.  I told the Dietician that this is the first time I've been able to lose more than 20 pounds, and that was a little scary for me.  At this point I would have already given up and started eating again without the band.  I think I'm frightened to be thin.  Then I won't have any excuse for why I'm alone.

Another Plateau?

Jan 27, 2007

The last 10 pounds came off pretty fast, once I stopped drinking.  Now that I'm home for a couple of weeks, I need to get into the habit of going to Curves at least 3X a week.  I was sick with a bad cold last week, and that gave me a good excuse why I didn't go.  I feel better now, so there is no excuse!

Happy New Year

Jan 04, 2007

I hate to make New Year resolutions, because everybody does, and by February, most everyone fails.  That being said, I resolve to not let alcohol pass my lips until I reach 190 pounds.  Today is day 3, and I weigh 197.6.

I did go to Curves once while on vacation, and also went yesterday.  Depending on how I feel, I might even tonight after I get my hair colored!

I'm off to Bahrain Saturday.  Can't say I'm looking forward to that trip, even though I've never been.  This customer is madder than a hornet at us, and I kind of feel like I'm being thrown to the wolves!

I Must Really Hate Myself

Dec 22, 2006

I actually gained 2 pounds at the last dietician appointment (up to 202.5).  I got another fill, but I don't think it's the amount of food I'm eating that's the problem!  In spite of good intentions (I re-joined Curves in May), I haven't exercised at all.  Also, I gotta cut down on the beer!

This morning, I weighed 198.4, which is a step in the right direction.  I really need to get off my lazy ass and go to Curves while I'm on vacation!

The Journey So Far

Oct 18, 2006

4/16/06
Three more days to go! After my pre-op Thursday I cheated on a Wendy's double cheesburger and fries. I gained a pound the next day, and another pound the next! I'm finally back to my weight I was Thursday. It just goes to show you how fragile my metabolism is.

4/20/06
All done! Surgery yesterday and overnight in the hospital. My surgeon says everything went perfectly. I'm home now and feeling predictably gassy and bloated. Chicken broth is going down good, as is my protein drink. I'm trying to keep walking so the gas is absorbed faster. I'm surprised at how much energy I have one day out!

5/14/06
It's hard to believe that it's almost a month since surgery. I'm down 20 pounds since April 1. I joined Curves 2 weeks ago but have only been twice...arggh. Last week I convinced myself that my incisions hurt so didn't go except Monday. Next week I'll be on a business trip in Montreal most of the week so won't be able to go either! 3 more pounds to Onederland!

5/21/06
I get my first fill on Tuesday, and I can't wait. Several of my bad habits are rearing their head again (poor food choices, overeating among them), and I need to feel like I have some control. My weight has been fluctuating between 202 and 208, sometimes jumping as much as 6 pounds overnight! I'm doing good on the water - thank God for Crystal Light, because I don't think I could drink plain water. When I'm home I'm drinking between 3 and 4 quarts per day, plus 4 cups of coffee in the morning. I'm going to go to Curves tomorrow after work if it kills me!

5/25/06
I got my first fill - painless. Breakfast the after however, wasn't. I had heard from others on the boards that the band can be tighter in the morning - that certainly seems to be true for me! I took three bites and had a horrible pain, sliming, and finally PBs (3X). I was very discouraged, thinking that this was going to be the way it was for every meal. I got to work and tried a protein bar - success! Lunch and dinner were fine too, as long as I took my time and chewed really well. I didn't even try breakfast today until mid-morning, and that worked fine. I'm looking forward to getting to Onederland!

7/28/06
Very disappointing couple of months - I plateaued big time, wavering between 201 and 206. Of course, I spent a great deal of time at the lake eating (and drinking) the wrong things. I saw the dietician a couple of weeks ago, and she wanted me to hold off on my 3rd fill until I got my eating under control. I got back from the lake Tuesday and was shocked to see that I had reached Onederland at last!! I thought for sure it was a fluke and I was just really dehydrated, but this week the scale is going down steadily each day. Down to 198.8 as of this morning. Yahoo!

9/15/06
Still hovering, but this morning my scale said 197! Of course, when I weighed in at the surgeon's office I showed 201.8. What's up with that??? My scale has always been really close to what they show, so I think their scale is off. At least that's what I'm telling myself. Lake time is done for the year, so I'll do a better job of eating the right things. The band has been really tight for a couple of days (my period maybe?) and its been hard to get breakfast down. I may have to start liquid protein shakes for awhile.
