Sleep Apnea
Feb 22, 2008
Well the sleep apnea was uneventful, but I needed to have it to be approved through Kaiser. I got there at 7:45 p.m. and left around 5:30 a.m. the next morning in an ice storm. I got home safely, thank God. I go to the nutritionist on thursday, 2/28. I am making lots of friends on this board. They have been so supportive and encouraging. Thanks guys. Anticipation is growing to get to the losing side. To God be All the Glory!

On my way
Jan 09, 2008
My final visit to the nutritionist is 1/22/08. I have also scheduled through GW Hospital a mandatory bariatric surgery information class on 2/21/08. I have opted to get the Lap band procedure. My sister had the Gastric Bypass and suggested that I research the lap band procedure. The WL will come off slower, but it is my understanding that the procedure is reversible. Happy, happy, joy, joy, my husband is finally melting to the thought of the WL surgery. I explained the lap band to him and he was more favorable to that procedure than the Gastric. I hope that I can at least have my surgery by March. I will keep you all posted.

2nd Session - Individual Followup Visit
Apr 03, 2007
With Kaiser, you have to have 6 visits which include GB Class 1 & 2 as well as nutritionist visits, 4- 5 weeks apart. I had my 2nd nutritionist visit on today. It went very well, I have lost 7 pounds on my own since my February visit. I have been doing a mock version of Atkins. I also have been drinking up to 100 ozs of water per day. She was happy with my progress. Kaisers requires you to lose 3-5% of your body weight before qualifying to receive GB surgery. She asked me if I knew the goal that wanted me to achieve. I said no. I weighed in February at 252. As of today I am 245. I was so happy, it took a while but I am progressing toward my surgery and my goal of 130 pounds. She told me that they require me to be at a weight of 244. WOW . I am right there. My surgery probably won't be scheduled until August, 2007, but I am well on my way. My next vist with her is 5/3/07. She gave me a 1 ounce cup and told me to practice sipping 1 ounce of water every 10 mins. This is required after my surgery. She wants me to continue losing, even though I am so close to what is required. I will follow her instruction. My new BMI is 43.3 down from 44.1. Well I will post again soon. Thanks for listening.
Beginning the Process

My husband is not supportive, so I am not telling him my plans at this time. However I did tell him that I had been referred to a nutritionist. He stated " you need to do something". I don't really care about his comments, I am doing this for me, so that the next part of my life will be of a higher quality. I have been diagnosed this year with Diabetes, High Blood Pressure and High Cholestrol. I am on BP medication as well as choletrol lowering medication. I refuse to be a person that is dependent on medication to control my life. Well I will keep you updated. Thanks for listening.
