201.6 lbs.

What the heck is going on?  I gained 4 pounds on Monday. I am just hoping that it is all fluids from the surgery and that it will come off very soon.  I had an allergic reaction to the Demerol I think.  I was itching non-stop all over.  I took a couple of Benedryl and it seemed to help quite a bit.  I am still in a lot of pain.  My poor belly button looks horrible.  It looks like a big swollen bloody mess.  These staples are really painful.  I can't even move without sending sharp pains through my belly button and surrounding area.  I am cleared from work until January 18th.  I am pretty happy about that.  There is no way that I am ready to go back anytime soon.

A.M 196.8  P.M. 201.6

Today I had to have my umbilical hernia repaired.  I am pretty sore and lightheaded.  This morning prior to surgery, I weighed 196.8.  This evening I weigh 201.6.  What the heck is the deal?  I'm sure it has something to do with all the fluids they pumped into me.  I think that I have developed a second hernia, but dr. Poday didn't want to fix it today.  He said we would just wait on that one. I'm not sure why he didn't want to fix it today.  I was supposed to go back to work today but that's not going to happen until January 18th.  I am in no hurry to get back during the Christmas rush.  I am going to do my best to just lounge around and relax.

The weight loss has been very slow.  I lost 18 pounds the first 9 days, but after that it has slowed way down.  I am down 28 pounds and I am happy with that.  I went in for surgery to repair the hernia last Monday Dec. 4th, but they found that I had a kidney infection and wouldn't do the surgery.  I am rescheduled for the surgery on December 18th.  I have been truly blessed.  I haven't been nauseas at all.  I have had the foamies several times but never sick at my stomach.  I haven't had any dumping at all.  I am feeling a lot better, with the exception of the hernia.

206 lbs.
This is so crazy.  Yesterday my weight was 204 and today it was 206.  Weird!  Well, I have to go in for another surgery next week.  I have a hernia that needs to be repaired.  I am ready for this one though.  I am having a lot of pain and this surgery should get rid of it.  I think the hernia has grown.  My stomach muscles feel like they have ripped further.  I will be glad to get this over with.  Yesterday I tried to eat two teeny bites of a hamburger patty.  I chewed it up really well, seemed to go down okay, but then the discomfort set in.  I ended up puking it up along with 3 small potatoe wedges.  I have thrown up several times, but only because I didn't chew good enough.  I haven't felt nauseous at all.  I haven't been getting my fluids or my proteins in.

Last night Mike said, "ooh, ooh, ooh, scratch my back".  I quickly leaned over, without thinking, to scratch his back.  I immediately felt a sharp pain to the left of my belly button.  It felt as if something "ripped".  The pain subsided but returned this morning with a vengance.  I woke up with an excrutiating pain just to the left of my belly button.  I immediately called my doctor's office.  I was going to just to to the ER but they called back just as I was leaving.  I applied pressure to the spot and something seemed to kinda "pop" back in place and the pain just stopped.  I went in to see the doctor and he said that he thinks it's a belly button hernia.  He said that he wanted to re-evaluate it in a month.  He said that he didn't want to do anything about it right now.  The pain has been coming and going all day.  It gets better when I apply pressure.

208 lbs.

I ventured out and tried the Wendy's chili today that I have been hearing so much about.  I said a prayer before I ate it and had 4 tablespoons.  It went down alright and I didn't have any problems with it.  It tasted sooooo good!  I didn't eat the beans because I didn't dare push it.

210 lbs.

Today is a bit better.  I am still very sore on the left side.  I have been having weird pains from when the drain was pulled out.  I'm not sure what is going on with that.  I think it has something to do with the Vegas Nerve.  It seems a bit better today, but it has become quite sporadic.  Seems fine one minute, the next minute, it really hurts.  My weight loss has been at a stand still for the past few days.  I guess that's good though.  I don't want to lose it too fast.  So far, I have lost 17 pounds.  I tried an egg today.  I only ate half of it because I put a little bit of shredded cheese on top of it.  I also had about 4 tablespoons of Progresso chicken and carrots with broth.  It was so good.  It didn't make me sick at all.  I ate a little too fast and that kinda hurt, but other than that, it was wonderful.

Today was a bad day.  The doctor took the Jackson Pratt drain out.  That was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!  It was extremely uncomfortable and felt very weird.  The drain was right by a nerve so it felt kind of like hitting my funny bone only inside my body.  It took my breath away when he pulled it out.  I have never felt anything like that.  I hope that I NEVER have to go through that again.  For some reason, I am in a lot of pain tonight.  Not sure if it has something to do with the drain or what.  I just can't find a comfortable position.  I actually just took some pain pills, which I haven't done in several days.

I am down 17 pounds.

I have yet to get all my fluids in.  I am feeling better, but can't force down all the fluids.  I was able to drink 46 grams of protein and 40 oz. of fluids.  Still not enough.  Most days, I am only able to get 15-20 oz. of fluid and no protein.  I had some liquified tuna.  I pureed 2 tablespoons of tuna with 1 tablespoon of light sour cream and water.  It was better than chicken broth.  I have discovered sf fudgesicles and those are really good.  I had 2 oz. of watered down cream soup.

I haven't been sick, but most things don't sit well on my new stomach.  I can eat sf popsicles with no problem, but cold water doesn't sit well at all.  I can't drink anymore Crystal Light.  Just the thought of it makes me very sick.  I tried decaf tea, makes my stomach feel really weird.  I have tried different temperatures of water and tea, most liquids not sitting well.  I'm still pretty sore.  Having diarrhea every day since I got home.

I left the hospital at about 1:00 this afternoon.  Mike had to go to work which really sucked.  I felt like I had been run over by a truck.  By this time, I have had 4 diferent pain meds and nothing was working.  I had Fentenol, Tordal, Lortab, and Darvocet.  The Lortab seemed to help some, but made me dizzy.

11/09/06-11/13/06
I have been in a lot of pain, but even worse than the pain are the MAJOR sugar withdrawals.  I have been so sick because of the withdrawals.  I feel weak, nauseas, light headed, shaky, clammy, generally yucky feeling.  The only things I can eat are SF jello, SF popsicles, chicken broth, and water.  I can't have anymore chicken broth or I am going to puke.  Lori, the nurse, said that I can add some protein shake now (11/13).  She said to drink 2 oz. every few hours and take 20 min. to drink the 2 oz.  I couldn't even do that.  I could only drink 1/2 oz.
