My wife and I met with Dr. Mir Ali today. We had heard very good things about him and we were anxious to finally meet him. We came prepared with several questions that we wanted to ask him personally. It felt a little like a job interview, but he was very patient and helpful in answering all of our questions. Dr. Ali indicated that he has been doing gastric bypass surgery for approximately four years. To date, he has completed over 400 open RNYs and over 100 lap RNYs. He said that he is very comfortable with the lap procedure and since both of us are under a BMI of 56, we could choose either open or lap. Dr. Ali reported that he had one complication in the past year and it was corrected. He seemed straight forward and honest in his answers. My wife and I are both very happy with Smart Dimensions. We did a lot of research about the program and feel confident in our choice to use Dr. Leport's program/associates. The office is very busy, but we were seen within 20 minutes of our appointment time. 5/12/04 update: My surgery with Dr. Ali on 5/6/04 went very well. I believe that he is a very highly skilled surgeon. I was off of pain medications about 3 days after the surgery and have not had any major pain. My incisions are small and I expect to have very little scarring. Thank you Dr. Ali! "
