Exercise chicky and inches lost
May 01, 2008
So I went and saw Sally at the hospital for my 6 month exercise assessment and measurements. She was very pleased and had no real thoughts to improve. I lost an additional 28.3 inches in the last 3 months for a grand total of 74.7 inches lost since surgery. I have lost a 6 foot 2 inch man ladies and gents...I have lost my husband LMAO.
Here's the breakdown:
Shoulders: 3.6 inches
Abdominals: 8 inches
Calf: no change
Chest: 4.4 inches
Hips: 4.8 inches
Arms: 1.2 inches
Waist: 5.2 inches
Thighs: 1.6 inches
That's in the last three months. Here's the totals since surgery.
Shoulders: 14.4 inches
Abdominals: 16 inches
Calfs: 2 inches
Chest: 9.6 inches
Hips: 12.4 inches
Arms: 4.4 inches
Waist: 12.8 inches
Thighs: 3.6 inches
Holy smokes Batman! I've lost over a foot in several different places. Nothing like a trip to the exercise guru to put things back in perspective.

27 weeks..2 steps forward, 1 back

So I'm up 3 lbs this week. Damn that scale anyways. I'm hoping I'm holding water. Maybe I should start only weighing every two weeks...hmmmm. This weightloss..in it's own way..is every bit as frustrating as any other.
I see the exercise chick from the hospital tomorrow...so hopefully I'll have some inches gone to make me feel better..

My first 5K

And it was awesome! Not the weather mind you....it was 40 degrees tops and winds at 25 miles per hour...unbelieveable!
Anyways...we got there almost an hour early to register my boys...I was so happy that they were able to be home to do this with me. After a very long wait in extremely cold weather we were able to line up. Vincent my oldest decided to run it with me...which was so very cool. I didn't have much hope of him lasting the entire time because he's never ran before in his life...but I was thrilled that he was willing to try.
So we started...and it was terribly unorganized. They did not have the runners in the front so the first half mile or consisted of dodging walkers who were too stupid to go to the rear. After that we caught a tailwind and really sailed for a bit. Vincents shoes kept coming untied so he kept having to stop but caught up to me every time. After the fourth shoe incident I told him that I was just going to go and he would see me at the end or go find grandma with the walkers.
I ran really well. They didn't time anyone but the winners...wtf is up with that I don't know. But my friends husband clocked himself and did it in 32 minutes..and I was in a good 5 minutes before him....my very best time ever and I did beat the goal I set for myself. The last mile was hard and I ran balls out the last .5 miles. Coolest damn thing ever I tell ya! But almost cooler than that....was seeing my 12 year old son cross the finish line about 7 minutes after me...having run the entire way! I was so proud of him I could have just burst! My little running man.
It was a good day.

6 Months
Apr 23, 2008
And 3 more pounds this week. 84 total in 6 months. 8 pounds this month. I am 3 pounds over what I was when I was in high school...can you believe that?
I had my 6 month follow-up with Dr. J this week. He was extremely pleased. My labs were excellent with the exception of my liver functions being elevated but that's not uncommon with the rapid weight loss. He said we should see them even out over the next 6 months or so. He asked if I was exercising and I told him about my upcoming race and flexed for him...he cracked up. We finally talked about a goal and he said I should loose about 20 more pounds. That would put me at the very top of my weight range and he said with my muscle tone that that should be fine for me. He also checked out my belly and incisions and said 'there's no sagging!' I laughed. So I'll see him in 6 months.
My running is going well. My 5K is Saturday and I'm really excited. I just completed my last run before the race. I'm taking tomorrow off of exercise to rest up. I'm so happy...my boys are going to be there and walk with my mom. I've raised about $100 and my mom has raised like $750...go MOM!

25 Weeks

And the stall/gain is over for the time being. I lost 5 pounds this week making 81 total. I see Dr. J next week and I'm hoping we'll talk about some sort of goal. The exercise chicky hunted me down at the hospital yesterday and we have an appointment to do measurements and talk about my exercise program on the first of May. I told her I'm not walking on the track for her and she seemed ok with that. I'm like...'dude, I work out 5 days a week and bust my ass...I know what I'm doing.'
As far as busting my ass....my running is coming along incredibly well. I LOVE it! I did the 5K this morning in 35 minutes..but I usually stay out for 40-60 minutes. It's tuff....but I really enjoy it. The race is on the 26th of this month. I don't know if I'll complete it in the 30 minutes that I'd like to....but I know I WILL complete it...and do well. I'm so excited.
In non WLS surgery news...my mom doesn't have to have chemo!!! We're so completely thankful. God was smiling on us this year...

And holding steady with my 2 pound gain. I had Skip put the scale in his car. I always weigh too much when I'm getting nervous about the scale so it's spent the week out there...only to be brought in on Wed. mornings for weigh-in.
I'm disturbed..and worried. I didn't gain...but haven't lost either. I've stayed the same or gained for the last month. This can't be it..I'm not even 6 months out...I work out like crazy and eat well. I know my body needs time to adjust..but damn....

My 5K goal
Apr 06, 2008
So I'm planning on running the 5k for the American Cancer Society the end of this month. I know being so new to running this is a pretty steep goal but I'm all about steep...and goals for that matter.
I've been running 5K for about a week and yesterday I did it only slowing to a walk 1 time for about 2 minutes. I am completely stoked! I know I can complete the whole thing without stopping to walk by the end of this month...I feel it. There's something about running...maybe it's because a year ago I never could have. It's completely freeing to go with the wind.
I even just called my ex-husband and asked him to sponsor me. And he is. My mom is doing this with me (go Mom!)..although she's walking. And I know her being somewhere behind me...cheering me on..is going to make all the difference in the world.

23 Weeks and a Gain

Up 2 pounds from last week. I'm hoping it's water. Ugg...I hate the scale.
22 weeks...2 days late
Mar 28, 2008
Just got back from MN last night so I missed my Wed. weigh in..which is fine because I didn't even loose 1 pound this week.
I'm trying to look back over the last two months and see what happened. I lost like 6 pounds this last month...and like 15 the month before. I didn't eat differently...I didn't exercise differently..with the exception of adding the running...but that was just this last week. I figured I had to have lost some weight in MN. But I got home and nothing. I'm a bit freaked just because that's a huge difference in loss from last month to this one. Weird weird weird. I really hope this isn't it...although I'm comfortable at this weight...I would still like to loose at least 20 more pounds.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

5 Months

76 pounds gone. Only 6 pounds this month. Less than half what I lost last month. Don't know what the heck happened....but oh well. 6 pounds down is better than 6 pounds up.
I'm leaving for Minnesota this afternoon. It will be wonderful to see my friends whom I only end up seeing once or twice a year...and I do love the state. I'm bringing all the kids with me so it's sort of a working vacation...LOL. Wish me luck!
