Hepatic Lesions and other goodies

Oct 07, 2007

So I peeked at my abdominal ultrasound results on Friday only to discover that my liver is enlarged and has several lesions on it.  Ok...I knew it was going too smoothly and needed a bump in the road but wasn't expecting this.

So I called my surgeons office and told them that I peeked and what was on there.  They said not to worry, that I'd discuss it with Dr. J next week and that it shouldn't delay surgery.  I hope they're right.  I showed the report to the doc I work for and he said it didn't look like a big deal and they could have been there since birth...thanks Dr. F..he's always a great one for easing my mind.

I am so sick of my fat suit and I want OUT OUT OUT!!  It's only been the last year or so that I'm sooo uncomfortable in my own skin.  But I'm past the point of uncomfortable and am so ready for this surgery.  Bring it!

Man..that upper GI was one of the more disgusting things I've had to do.  Nothing like the taste of barium staying with you all day.  Not something I want to repeat any time soon.
I did have an adorable tech that was very sweet to me so it made the time go faster.

So now I have a week to wait till I see Dr. J.  As long as they have my written letter of approval from Mail Handlers we'll be able to schedule a date.  I'm still shooting for the end of this month but we'll see.

I'm on cloud nine.  I can't believe my time is almost here and all this work is finally becoming a reality.  I'm stoked!

With a feather!!  I have my approval!  I called my surgeons office today and they got a call from my insurance late yesterday!  I am without words and so very gratful.

Tomorrow I have my upper GI and abdominal ultrasound and then next Thursday I get my date!

Will update later!

The waiting game

So I'm sitting here...it is 12:30 in the morning and not suprisingly, I can't sleep.  My paperwork was submitted Friday to my insurance, and they said they'd get back to us in 24-48 hours.  And of course that had to fall over a weekend when I can't go to work and bury my head in paperwork and patients.

My insurance is Mail Handlers and they are rumored to be excellent at quick and easy approvals...we'll see.

To date I have done....
-a 3 month MD supervised diet
-psych eval
-dietician eval
-fitness eval
-h-pylori bloodwork
-pft (pulmorary function test)
-EKG
-letter from PMD recommending me for surgery (you ROCK Dr. A)
-all my med records about my cholesterol
-weights from the last 5 years

Most of this was required by my insurance..who pay for the surgery at 90%, but cover NONE of the pre-op testing that they require...go figure.

Cross something for me folks...it's going to be a long week.
