Well we moving on...down, we finally got a piece of the pie!

Aug 29, 2014

No pie! Absolutely none, BUT I weighed in this morning at 237.7 Hooray!!! 43 pounds gone, bye! I love not having to make decisions anymore, eating less and not eating many carbs is real easy. I don't miss drinking much at all and am doing more social stuffs! I am dancing now three nights a week, one of which is Flamenco! I've always wanted to do it and I feel so confident in raising my arms and seeing myself in the mirror as the best me I've seen in years.

O yeah and it's been two months since surgery! Hope all are well and good luck to those taking the first steps!

Gah! Stall broken!!! About a week ago!

Aug 11, 2014

Finally! I am down to 244, was stuck at 253-54 for about two and half weeks. That was real crappy. I felt terrible about myself and this whole procedure, so I just put the scale away and kept tracking my foods. I know was eating over 800 calories and everything, EVERYTHING has been sugar free, low carb, no problem. Last week I finally saw the scale move in the course of three days from 254ish to currently 244, somedays 243. So I am putting away the scale again and will way next week. I have increased my endurance at dancing so now I so two nights for an hour and half, it really is a workout. I am also doing some light swimming. I'd like to hit the gym, but I just am so beat after dancing it does take a few days to recover.

I stopped drinking the proteins, which I need to bring back. I wanted to try to eat as much protein as possible, but it's too time consuming and I just end up forgetting. You'd think I'd have more confidence, but I am super self-conscience right now about the way I look.. I don't know how to explain it. I feel great and people tell me I look great, but I still get that I am too big sensation, like my ass and hips are in people's way.

Anywho! Hope yall are well!!!!!!!!!

O you sneaky 3.5 week stall! 248 to 252 :(

Jul 24, 2014

Geez, what happened? I am stalled again with weight gain, blergh. Talked to my doc and of course they all say this is normal and I get it but it is so disheartening. I wish I could talk my body through what's happening and coax it to just let go of the fat; let it gooooo. I, like many others am concerned that I'll keep gaining or never loose; it really is depressing. I have not strayed and will keep the course - 3 3oz meals a day and two protein shakes with at least a few SF snacks here and there. I do have to up my water by alot! Also need to start doing more exercise but I've been super tired. I did get a script for B12 shots so hopefully that will help out. I hid my scale and I don't want to see it for another three weeks so take that you shit! As for my period, I still haven't had it and just have to wait til my body sorts itself out.

I am frustrated, sad but not broken. One day at a time and I know this is all very routine but gah, I'd like to keep moving on, er down :(

280 to 248 Aaaaaamen! 3 weeks and day post-op

Jul 19, 2014

well, this week I stalled for about a week at 250. A friend mentioned that my body is in the starvation mode and wants to hold onto whatever I'm eating and that I should up my calories. I did and did so in a healthy way - I had small, original flavor Pink Berry yogurt with kiwis (the kiwis are mushy and I'm on pureed) and also pureed pork with black beans!  A day later i'm done two lbs! Woot! So I think I'm ready for the soft foods because I've been eating tuna and meat without issue in that sometimes it is not the consistency of baby foods. I do feel full after about 4 bites and I sit back and wait, drink whatever SF drink, wait again and finish up my meal. I am still drinking 2 shakes a day, just eating more and more often.

I am super excited about the next step which is adding back vegetables. I missed broccoli, squash and snap peas with grilled fish/chicken/beef! I feel so very happy having made the choice to have the surgery. I am so cognizant about what I am putting into my mouth and read everything. My MD/NUT put my goal at 200 which is great! I didn't want to go any lower than 180, so there I have my buffer!

I am jointing the gym next week since I really have been way too tired to do anything this past week. I mean super super tired and I haven't had my period yet and wonder if that has anything to do with the little amount of food I'm eating. I do have a follow-up next Wednesday and will make sure to bring it up. I have also been dancing with my dance group and here in NOLA we dance in parades all the time and did so today for about half mile, which really was all I can do in the hot Southern sun.

Anywho, hope you all are well!!! I will add pics asap.

Two weeks surgiversary: dancing and pureed foods

Jul 11, 2014

Ok, here we go: weight at begining of preop diet 280, weight at surgery 264, current weight 251. According to my maths, that's alot! yay!

I started my pureed foods on Wednesday and I LOVE PUREED foods!!! I've been getting in at least 80gs of protein, but very little waterm, maybe 32 ozs, I need to really up that. I am so tired today, i can barely keep my eyes open, so I have no idea what that's about. Otherwise, I have been progressing well!

I take my supplements everyday and on a schedule which helps. I have timer to remind me when I can drink before or after a meal, which also helps to remind to drink water or throw down another protein shake. I'm doing at least two protein shakes right now and am counting on the pureed food for the added grams. I can eat about 2-4ozs at a time, about 4 times a day. So it looks like this:

  • protein shake
  • Vitamins and meds
  • 3-4 oz of greek yougurt with b-complex mixed in
  • 2-4 oz of pureed food
  • water
  • snack (popsicle or jello)
  • 2-4 oz pureed food
  • water
  • protein shake
  • water
  • 2-4 oz pureed food
  • 8 oz soy milk
  • water
  • 2-4 pureed food
  • sleep

I also started dancing again! Two nights a week as an aerobic activity, think zumba. I did it wednesday and I was beat! But it felt great and can't wait til next Monday. The only thing I am concerned about are the holes/scars on stomach, any advice on what to put on them so they heal nicely?

Hope you all are doing well!

THANK YOU!!! Update 9 days post op

Jul 06, 2014

Hellooo!!! 9 days post op and I am feeling almost 100%! I have so much energy to do little things like clean up my room, house and car!!! I've not had this much energy in years!!! That last thing I wanted to do was sit by the computer! Awesome right?!? Thank y'all so much for the support the last 3 weeks, means so much and I hope all y'all are doing well too

I have been doing well with my fluids and vitamins. Sometimes I do think I can drink more that the average patient, but Ive read it's most probably because I can't feel anything in my stomach since the nerves were cut. Weirdly though, beginning Saturday, I was finding myself getting "full" quicker and burpier. So that's new.

As for weightless, I am definitely slow - today I weighed in at 255~ which is awesome, almost 10lbs from surgery - 30 total including the pre-op loss. I am not complaining at all, I'll take it! Tomorrow I am joining a gym - actually my company will pay for me to go to gym while I work towards goal! Cool right! Not to mention they will reimburse me half the cost of operation and year later as long as I am at goal.  My follow-up appointment is Wednesday so we will set a goal then me thinks. Personally I would love to be at 180 - so hopefully nothing lighter than that.

So looking forward to pureed phase!!! All the beans! All the baked ricotta! Maybe not all, but definitely a healthy portion. The idea of being more organized about eating is super exciting to me. I have a scale, measuring cups and super awesome bento box I'm dying to use. Food is actually exciting now since I am getting all sorts of ideas on how to eat better!

Anywho, I'm going to work on posting pics somewhere - talk to y'all soon and good-luck to those with surgery this week!

Day 5 Post-Op: Sugar Hill Gang and Home Depot

Jul 01, 2014

I still can't sleep right. I mean I lay back, close my eyes but my body is restless. The gas bubbles, they don't sleep! So I'm sorta half way tired all the time, still trying to get in my protein; getting better. Today I ventured out to home depot with grams and bought her tree and walked around the store where it was nice and cool (it's super hot in New Orleans right now).

I just listened to some Sugar Hill Gang, 8th wonder and moved around a little ; don't want to hurt anything, so I take it easy for now. I feel so much closer to normal! I really can't wait to get back into the rhythm of things!

The first few days were horrible, the puking and naseau, but that all went away like most said; clockwork. I can only take in about 5 ozs of liquid in about 30-45 minutes or I'll get that uncomfy wave of gas. So far, i have no regrets and super looking forward to getting my grub on the right way. I am working on the boredom thing, the eat when bored, and now that I know that's my trigger I just start dong something else. I like having a schedule, plan on what to eat so i have been researching low-carb pureed foods and for someone who hates cooking, I am so looking forward to it.

Hope you all are doing well and thank you so much for all your comments and support!

To date, I have lost 23lbs, 16 pre-op and 7 post.
