Am I the only one here not seeking surgery?

Sep 13, 2018

It doesn't seem to be popular to want to lose weight through dietary changes and exercise. But I attended an informational session at a local hospital, where I was the ONLY ONE who didn't want the surgery! And according to their program guidelines, I wouldn't qualify anyway, because my BMI is "only" a 31. Fat enough to be called obese, but not fat enough to qualify for surgery. Go figure. Fine, because I have preexisting health problems that would be further aggravated, in particular digestive issues. So now I just need to prove that my Minnesota Medicaid will cover seeing the bariatric doctor. I'm 62 and want to lose weight because I badly need knee replacements. There's no cartilage left in either knee and I'm using a wheelchair. I can ride passenger on a Harley, but I can't stand or walk without excruciating pain. Hoping these things can be resolved.
