When Motivation Started to Fade

Jan 24, 2026

It didn’t happen suddenly.

One week, everything felt fine. The walks continued. Meals stayed simple. Then, quietly, the enthusiasm faded. He didn’t say he wanted to stop — he just became quieter.

Some evenings, he suggested skipping the walk. Some meals went unfinished. I could feel the frustration building, even though he never said a word about it.

This was the moment I realized something important: motivation is temporary, but habits need patience.

I didn’t remind him why we started. I didn’t bring up progress or expectations. Instead, I slowed down with him. We walked less. We talked more.

One night, he said,
“I feel like I’m trying, but nothing is changing.”

I didn’t argue. I didn’t correct him. I just listened.

Because sometimes, the hardest part isn’t the body resisting change —
it’s the mind getting tired first.
