I fought my weight since I was 13. I tried several weight loss plans but could never keep off the weight because I love food and I was taught at a young age to clean my plate and not waste it. I also think my busy lifestyle and stress of working two jobs did not help me be successful. I decided to get gastric bypass once my weight got over 320 lbs. I did a lot of research, talked to a lot of people I know about their experience with the surgery, and asked my primary for a referral. He referred me to Dr. Nagle at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago IL. I went to a consultation and filled out an application to get approval to begin their bariatric surgery process. I did not experience any complications with my surgery. Recovery went very well for ne and i was approved for fmla through my employer. Now I am currently eight months out from surgery and I've lost 133 lbs, 148 1/2 overall inches, 5 jean sizes, and 24.7 in BMI. I do not have any hunger pains and I have been fairly successful in getting 64 ounces of water in per day. I am 16 lbs away from my original goal weight of 170 lbs! I am able to do things that I couldn't before such as go in a small bathroom stall, tie my shoes without struggle, ride my horse, and go tubing on a lake. I have had phenominal results. This has truly been the best decision for me.
