Last night I went to bed as a 5’11” man that weighed 180 pounds. This morning, I woke up and said, “Oh crap,,,,,,, I gained 107 pounds last night”!

My story is much like everyone else and began after high school. College food, adult beverages, married life combined with reduced exercise due to chasing that American Dream has put me in a state where I know I have to take back control of my health or else. I am a believer that we cannot stray too far from our genes. My father passed away as a large man at age 47 with a body structure very similar to me. Being 51, I feel I am on borrowed time and after a couple of years of research and thought to WLS, know that the time to act is NOW!

Overall, I live a very full, happy, and active life. However, beside everything associated to my overall health, I am starting to see my weight seize more and more of the richness of my life. I am hoping this tool will assist me in “PUTTING OUT THE FIRE (POTF)”. Ok, what is POTF you ask? I am hopeful that with this surgery as a tool, it will assist me in curtailing the full time craving of food.

Finally, my goal for this diary is two fold. First of all, I want to track my journey through this entire process because I want to relate back for inspiration to continue to move forward. Secondly, I hope that my documented experience can provide a helpful insight to others considering the WLS path.

This is an awesome website with many features. However, features are only features if they are not used. I intend on using this as a valuable tool, just like the WLS itself to optimize my long term benefit.
