"I fell in love with Dr. Sunby from the moment I met him Sept 03' - when my best friend Danna became very ill. Dr. Sunby's care for her over the nearly 4 months she was in St. Mary's was phenominal. He truelly cares about his patients. So when I cam across his name on this site a few months later when I was looking for a surgeon I knew in my heart right then that my desicion had been made. Dr. Sunby is very thorough. He tells things like it is. His compasion for his work is very evident. My thoughts on the few of the other members of the Dean bariatric team are little less than posititve. THere is a supportive support team of proffessionals there to help me along this journey. It is up to you (me) to use those tools to get to the end result. I fully plan on doing so. I can't believe that 3 months has already passed by!! "

St. Mary's Hospital Medical Center
"I am not real impressed with the care I recieved in the hospital. I guess the MAIN problem was I was given a medicatioin that made me sick by an intern. This should NOT have happened. The intern should have known that guidelines of treating a RNY patient. My surgeon's comments the next morning was "That is why interns are interns and not practicing doctors". Sorry...this doesn't bode well with me. If this person is treating me in the absense of my surgeon the MUST know that medications are ok and what are not. I also had problems w/my bladder. A urine test was sent to the lab however it was sent for the 'wrong' testing and therefore my bladder infection did not get caught till AFTER I went home -- and I was much sickier. I love my surgeon. I love his staff. But I did NOT love the nurses that cared for me. Education is MUCH needed w/them. "

"I have not had a good taste re: this specific dr. since I met him. My husband and I both met w/him the same day only back to back appts. with mine being the last one. He took what my husband said and applied it to my appt. he did not "hear" me in my opinion. I was very unhappy w/him and his service he provides for the Dean Bariatric Team."
