The day began by 1. NO COFFE!
2. No water. 3. NO FOOD. The coffee part was the hardest for me. Plus my test wasn't done untill 3:00pm so no eating or drinking after midnight the evening before. They were very nice and gave me water, coffee and sandwich and ice cream after it was over. I'm usally a basket case for any procedure in a surgery setting. Today I wasn't too bad. I think it has something to do with wanting this lapband surgery so much and I feel one step closer with each test or visit. I have to say...I haven't felt hope like this for many years. I want this so badly and will do whatever it takes. The only bad part was when they sprayed my throat to numb it. It tasted "HORRIABLE" Almost took my breath away! Then came the la-la land shot..lol. first I was dizzy, then felt sleepy. Well, wouldn't you know it, I didn't even remember my Doctor coming in the room! What ever they gave me must have been pretty good. Everything looked good he told my aunt Janis who went with me. Some bactieria in the stomach for some reason, but no reason to worry. Some reflux but not very much. He also does a biopsy for some reason but I was told it was normal procedure for Dr. Woodruff. The next step is to go to a support meeting. I figure they will be sending in for the approval soon too. *fingers crossed* Judy

Today I had the consultation with my soon to be surgeon. It seemed to go great! Younger than I thought he'd be...but thats ok. There was about 4 other people with thier support people and we all had a meeting together at first. Dr. Woodruff explained the procedure between gastric bypass and lapband. I now more than ever think lapband surgery is for me. Happy about my choice too. There were two of my doctors that were sending letters over to the weightloss center to send in to my insurance co. They didn't get them yet. My pcp did send in his referal though. (good) I already had the Psycholgist report done and sent in (passed it) whew! So the nurse will make my appt soon for the scope to see if I have any hernia . Right now, no other test needs to be done. My documented 6 month weight loss diet is going to be weight watchers. I went there for about 7 months over a year ago. Some bank reciepts and the booklet were taken and copies made. Medical Mutual Ohio super med plus has just recently decided they will allow weights watchers to stand in for documented physician diet. Keeping my fingers crossed on this one! If it isn't accepted I will be pushing the surgery back until late fall.
DH (Joe) was with me at the center and seemed a little lost by every thing but he did it! yea....!!! His hearing is super bad and he missed alot but some he did hear. He's so used to moving around at work and being very physical , so to have him pinned in to some limited spaced exam rooms was pure torture I bet. Kinda antsy and alot of yawning but he made it...lol. close to 2-3 hrs there, not as bad as I was told. A room alone with the nurse to have my bloodpressure, weight, temp..and picture taken. Then back to join Joe and await a brief exam by Dr. Woodruff.

My appointment with the surgeon is coming up in a week. My first consultation with Dr. Woodruff. The time will be early and I've been told it's a long visit. 3-4 hrs long. My husband will need to take a vacation day to go with me. (he would never miss work!) lol.. But the paper work said unless your spouse comes with you they wouldn't go any further with the surgery, testing or a date for it. My support system needs to be involved. I would much rather have my adult daughter with me though. DH is a good man but lacking in the emotional support dept. I've learn over the years (14) that he just doesn't have that "gene" in his physical makeup. Making a living comes first and formost...and he does work very hard for us to live a good life. anyhoo....Here we are waiting to see if I can even pass all the test for being healthy enough to have the surgery. And we can't forget the Insurance, convincing them to allow the surgery. I pray that all goes well, and I can finally get a date for surgery. There surely is alot of hurdles to jump over for this WLS. I won't give up! Judy

I'm really getting excited and now it seems it might just happen! YES! Still getting all my ducks in a row but it's a real plan now. My psyhc. visit is early tomorrow morning.Part of the money up fron't...just to write the report I believe, the rest whatever my Insurance won't pay. I feel both elated and scared. Is this normal... probably. (now I answer my own questions) lol. I hope the phyc. doctor doesn't hear of this. lol. Made a Appt with my family doc also today. Next week is that appt. If I can get all the paper work done before my consultation I'll be ahead of the game. The sooner the better. I haven't lived my life to the fullest for quite a few years now. 35 to be exact. Every day at this weight is worse than the day before. I want so much to be able to walk without trouble and to stand for more than a few minutes without pain. I want my life back. At the age of 54 you think I would have figured this out before, but I always thought there was time to get serious about my size. I was wrong....and I hope I have a few years left to be a normal size and not be in so much pain. Anyway, I'm a happy camper today! Hope the rest of this journey goes smoothly. Judy
