I am 46 and have been obese for as long as I can remember. You know, the last on choosen in gym, the last one to class on the 3rd floor, I could go on and on. 3 years ago I lost 64 pounds on weight watchers and then gained it all back. My family history is terrible, diabetics, heart disease, etc. 8 months ago I was told my HGB A1C had risen to "pre diabetic." I am on cholesterol, high blood pressure, thyroid and depression medication. At that time I decided it was time to take care of myself (I am a nurse..I gave care to others not myself.) After much research, asking questions and reaching out to other who have had gastric bypass I decided to pursue surgery for myself.....well during the pre requisites low and behold I won myself a CPAP. My surgery is scheduled for 2/1...9 days away. I am excited but very nervous about this new life style. Looking for all the support I can get, and I will support all of you in your journey to your new way of living. Here is to a better US!
