4 Weeks from today at this time, I will be Post Op; woohoo!

Jan 04, 2017

I am so excited!  I am flying to Toronto this coming Sunday and staying with family until my pre-op surgery meet the team meeting, which is in 6 days; less than a week now!  I start Optifast in 7 days, on Jan. 11th, and  4 weeks from today, at this time (11:33 PM) I will be Post Op day 1,  and on the losers bench, because my surgery is scheduled first thing Feb. 1st.

I can't believe it's so close.  For over 2 years it has seemed like a distant dream.  When I started it was just for info; I wasn't even sure if I wanted the surgery.  I was wishy washy about wanting it, not wanting it, being afraid to have it,  until I met the surgeon via telehealth a few months ago.  It was only then, when he gave me the OK, that I realized I did want this, very much.

So very excited!

I even started a youtube channel.  My first videos are awful, lol, but if anyone wants to offer support there, my Youtube name is Shrinking Kathy.  I even started a new My Fitness Pal acccount under that name, but had to put an underscore between the words.

2017 is going to be my year!

On a side note, I am so happy I decided to fly instead of take the Greyhound this weekend.  We've been having white-outs every day this week.

My exercise bike arrived

Dec 07, 2016

I ordered an exercise bike from Walmart.ca on Dec. 3rd, and it arrived today, Dec. 7th, at 7:30 PM.

I put some of it together myself, and then my Dad helped me with the rest (Thanks, Dad!).

It was almost 11 PM by the time it was all together and i had cleaned up, so I only did a quick 10 minutes test ride, but it seems very smooth and comfy!  I'm looking forward to going for a nice vlonger ride tomorrow.

I'm geting a new exercise bike for Christmas!

Dec 04, 2016

I am soooo excited!  I'm getting a brand new semi recumbent exercise bike for Christmas.  It should be here by Dec. 9th and I can't wait!

I bought a new outdoor bike this past summer and loved riding it soooo very much.  I rode 198 km this summer, which is nothing to a real cyclist, but a lot to me, especially considering my asthma and the fact that I'm carrying 300 Ibs.  My doctor recommended it when I told him my legs felt like they were going to give out when I climb the stairs, and I'm so glad i listened to him and bought my pretty coral colored bike. I felt like a kid again, exploring my city by bike.   I've been missing it a lot now that winter is here.  I tried to ride outside last week but it rained for a week, and then the one day we had sunshine it snowed. The snow has melted but now it's raining again.  So I figured an exercise bike would allow me to keep up with my riding while indoors.

Every year my parents buy me some nice gifts and give me money for Christmas (I do the same for them).  This year I asked my Dad if he could get me the exercise bike instead of the gifts and money.  I found a one for a great, low price, with lots of good reviews and would have purchased it myself but am pretty broke what with Christmas shopping and my upcoming surgery.  So my Dad agreed right away and told me to order it last night.

I was so excited I stayed up up until 3 AM, making a playlist of virtual bike rides on Youtube so I can watch them while I ride in place, lol.  So soon I'll be able to virtually ride through forests and fields, up hills I couldn't do in real life, and through cities and countries all around the world.  I can't wait!

Surgery and Presurgery Dates!

Dec 02, 2016

This is getting real!

I have to go to Toronto on January 10th for my presurgery meet the team visit, and to get my 3 weeks worth of optifast.  I'll be staying with family members when I go for this visit, and will probably take the Greyhound bus, as I'm not brave enough to drive to Toronto in winter.

I'll be having surgery on February 1st, very early in the morning.  I managed to book a flight via Porter when they were having a two day sale and will be flying from the Sault to Toronto and back home again for only $240.00, which is an amazing price.

I'm thinking of using airbnb for my surgery date because I'll have to stay in toronto for 4-5 days after surgery, but because my surgery is on a  Wednesday, I booked my flight for an entire week, so that I'll be flying in and out on a Tuesday (which is cheaper than flying on the weekend).

I'm equally excited and scared.  I've been having anxiety attacks about dying from complications to the surgery.  I'm sure I'll be fine though.  It's just fear of surgery. I've never had surgery since I was 3, and had my tonsils removed.  I remember being scared, lying on the operating table, and they put a mask over my mouth and nose and asked if I could count.  I said yes and they asked me to count, and I never reached 10 before I was out.  Then I woke up with a very sore throat and no memory of the surgery.  I guess if I could handle it as a toddler, I can handle it now, lol.
