Hi Everyone,
I"m ashamed to admit this, but it has been a long time since I have been on here. I promise to do my best about updating more and checking out the message boards. I really miss that. I had my surgery on December 13, 2005, performed by Dr. Dieter Pohl. My starting weight was 321lbs!! My BMI was 57!! Every bone in my body would hurt, I couldn't walk for more than 2-3 minutes, I had really bad sleep apnea, rarely left the house, etc. My body was constantly  racked with pain. Our family had went through something very tramatic 4 years ago, and I coped by eating, eating, eating. All I ever thought about was food, from the second I awoke in the morning.
I had started this WLS process 3 years ago, but at the time, we had United Health (with a strict exclusion), so it wasn't meant to be. In June of 2005, my husbands work switched to BCBS Healthmate Coast to Coast. I looked to see if WLS was  covered, and  it was. I jumped right back into the swing of things, made all of the appointments, had  all testing done,  met with Dr. Pohl again, and on December 13, 2005, I was given another chance at life. I will always be forever grateful for this God-sent man. I honestly believe that he saved my life. I have had my ups and downs, as we all do. At first, I lost very slowly. By my third fill, I was feeling restriction. Today, 13 months later, I am down to 249 from 321!! October was a pretty bad month for me: I gained 8 lbs. It was a wake up call for me. Jeremy happily gave me another fill, and I've been continously losing 5-6 lbs. a month. My back has not hurt in nearly 5 months and I walk a lot now. My family has a hard time keeping up with me!! It's a WONDERFUL feeling to have so much energy. Again, I am so very thankful for Dr. Pohl, Jeremy, and their great staff. It makes me incredibly happy to see that they are so pleased with how I am doing. I have never regretted having Weight-Loss Surgery...not for a second. There's one thing that I keep telling myself though: I WILL NEVER FORGET WHERE I CAME FROM, AS MY HEART GOES OUT TO ANY OBESE PERSON THAT I SEE, ESPECIALLY SEEING THE PAIN THAT THE EXTRA WEIGHT CAUSES THEM.
