Scale victory

May 10, 2016

I was told to stay off the scale and not weigh myself and I have.  The problem is I've had 3 doctors appointments in the past week and they've all weighed me so I got a sneak peak.  Surgery was May 2, and as of today I am down 19lbs.  Very happy with that!!

I had to be fitted with a heart monitor today for some a-fib stuff I had going on in the hospital after surgery.  I was told no excerise/sweating of any kind because the glue has to set so the montitor won't fall off.  It's funny any other time I would have been like okay, no problem but I've been walking every day and getting more steps in each day so I am really bummed about this.  I guess oh well, the two days will go by pretty quickly.

I have begun the puree stage.  Not as bad as I thought it would be because frankly thinking about minced up chicken was making me nauseaus. But it's pretty good doctored up some.  I have a really nice Ninja food processor and it doesn't seem to get the food minced small enough so I was careful to chew and chew every bite so that was a little disheartning since I paid so much money for it.

Nothing else to add at the moment, best wishes to all!!

Day 5

May 07, 2016

It seems weird to say that, Day 5.  Time is just flying by, especially since you (I) wanted nothing more than the last 6 months to fly by and that they did.

Got in my 90g protein yesterday, the last 10 grams were pretty hard but I got it done.  Water intake was at 48 oz so I am very happy with that.

I believe my incision sites must be healing because they are in that buring, pulling itching all around annoying phase. I have 5 incision sites.  Four are uncovered and I count a total of 18 staples in those all toghether.  The fifth site, the larger one that they actually removed the stomach thru is still bandaged and covered.

My stomach is still oddly shaped but I am passing MUCHO GASSO....thank god I'm in my own home and not working, lol.

I am a side sleeper and with all that's happened to my stomach I just can't get on my side yet so the sleeping in uncorfortable to me on my back.  I'm thinking  maybe anywhere from 3-7 days I could possibly  be on my side again and look forward to 8hrs of full sleep!

My first doctor appointment is on Tuesday so all is going well so far and pray it continues.

It is HAPPY NURSING WEEK and I must say I had the best Doctors, Nurses, CNA's, Lab Techs, Xray and MRI techs, volunteers etc. at my hospital and would love to say thank you to you all.  You made my stay that much better and I appreciate everthing you did for me. The scary times with the A-fib were'nt half as scary knowing I had such a capable staff at my disposal.  You all Rock!! Also a special thanks to Leslie and the staff at my doctors office for the help in getting this all acomplished.

Last but not least to my husband and my daughters for all your love and support XOXO

On the losing bench now!

May 05, 2016

Well, my sleeve surgery was May 2.  I don't remember a thing after being given a shot in the pre surgery room(must of been a good one).  Woke up about 5 hours later in my room.  I only got about 5 minutes of sleep every hour on the hour and I went into a-fib during the night, then some kind of nurse or doctor was beside my bed  most of the night with ekg's, xrays, needles blah blah blah.  My nurse got me up at 5:30 am and said I had to sit in the chair....at 5:30?  was it going somewhere, lol.  Anyways I did, right until 8:00 that night with a few walks around the hospital and a MRI and chest xrays again..I think my blood was done 4 or 5 times throughout my 2 day stay.  Anyways, I couldn't imagine feeling any worse  when my nurse said on day 3 everything would feel so much better and she was right.  ALOT different.  I still put my compression band around my waist because it feels so much better to do so.  I've gotten in 6 cups of water today (48oz.) plus two 10oz premier protein shakes so I think I'm doing really well.  I also had a cup of chicken broth.  I think I can probably squeeze in another protein for the night to hit 90g protein.  Oh, I forgot one thing, after my a-fib night, the next morning I had to go to the mri and have a barium drink, through a straw and drink it fast, granted I hadn't drank at all until that point.  Everything I learned in the last 6 months leading up to surgery, no gulping drinks, no straws, whent right out the window.  I looked at them like they lost their minds.  My bariatric nurse was with me.  She is the nicest person ever and said don't worry it will be okay.  So I did it and it didn't hurt at all. Afterwards she said she couldn't believe I drank it so fast.  Shes never seen someone do that, lol.  I'm a rule follower, if you tell me to do it that way I going to, lol.

So to make a long story short, those who said the surgery wasn't to  bad, I call bullshit....it hurts terribly. But I made it through, I am home and recovering nicely. Each day is getting easier and I am beyond thrilled to be on the losers bench!!!

It's getting real!

Apr 28, 2016

Hospital called today to verify all my insurance stuff for Mondays surgery.  My doctors office called to ask when I had my colonoscopy because they didn't receive paperwork of it (it was done Feb 25) so they were calling to have it faxed to them as they were sending my folder to the hospital today.....I just can't even imagine that 6 months have passed, my required waiting time and the date is just about here.  I think i got my first case of the jitters...just a little but wow.  It's just about here!

Apr 21, 2016

OMG!  Just called my doctors office as my surgery date of May 2 is approaching and I still didn't know if I was approved.   She said they got approval yesterday..........over the moon estatic.  When she said she got the approval, my whole body turned completely cold, then I got the chills.  WOW, 10 days and I'll be on th loosers bench.  Visting this site since Oct. 2015 when I had my first consult, I had the 6 month wait full of appointments and I just can't believe how fast this time has gone by

Pre-Op 4/12/16

Apr 13, 2016

4/13/16  Had my pre-op yesterday.  Went pretty well I guess.  My surgery was moved from 5/4 to 5/2 and instead of gastric bypass I am having the sleeve due to my prior health requirements for prednisone.  I don't know if I'm upset or a little relieved about this.  I need to lose quite a bit of weight and I hope I can do it with the sleeve. 282lbs at weigh in yesterday so I'm down 10 lbs this week.  I'll take that for sure. Thought I was finally done with 6 months of appointments but Dr. thought I should get clearance from my pulmonologist even though I already had my sleep apnea test in Janauary.  So they just called, want me to do a pulmonary function test and then see him on Monday....2 more appointments....ugg
