I started my journey at the age of 16 when I went on my first diet, which went into a cycle of anorexia bulimia and yo-yo dieting for 47 years. I finally decided to have the RNY with Dr. Chan in Riverside. I decided back then that I'd had enough. in 2016 I made the decision to change my life, and that this surgery was going to change my life. I knew that this surgery wasn't a magic pill. They were going to alter my stomach, not my brain. It was going to be up to me to change my way of life. I will not sit here and tell you that it's been a cakewalk , every day I put my feet on the floor it's a struggle just like any other addiction. I chose to have a better life and to use this surgery as a tool, not a fix all. I have had so many negative, Comments about this surgery over the last six years. telling me how they have friends and family gaining weight after the surgery blah blah blah. I choose to not listen to negative talk. I have maintained every single pound that I have lost since 2016. I have not gained. I feel very blessed every day that I have beautiful clothes in my closet that I'm able to fit in every morning I wake up. That is so rewarding in its self. If you are thinking about having this surgery and wanting to change your life, I am here to tell you that it works only if you want it to.
