A Long Year

Mar 24, 2019

It took me nearly a year to get approved for surgery.  At first I had every intention of self-paying.   I was delighted to discover that my husband's insurance could pay 80% if approved.   I decided waiting 6 months would be worth it.   I had no idea that it would take much longer.  I joined Weight Watchers and went to a lot of classes at the hospital.  There was a meeting with a social worker and a nutritionist along the way.

I FINALLY got approved on January 24.  WOOOHOOOO!!  My RNY surgery was scheduled for March 15, 2019.  My new birthday.

Before surgery I lost about 30 pounds.  But man, I feel like I lost the same 5-10 pounds 20x.  I'm 9 days post-op today.  I am primarily on full liquids.  I can have soft foods in addition.  However, the few that I have tried at this point did not sit well with me. I am going to wait a little while longer.

Anyhoo---I haven't checked in for a while.  I thought I might post an update.  Even if I'm the only one who may ever read it.

Week One of Many

Apr 12, 2018

This week is the start of my journey.

April 10 - I went to my first seminar / meeting on Tuesday April 10.

April 11 - I filled out  my doctor's paperwork and submitted it (nervously) to my surgeon on April 11.

April 11 - I shared my plans with my dearest friends.

April 12 - I shared with dearest friends my real BMI.  55.  Ugh.  It's time to get real and get to work.
