Renee, Lap or Open, they are all procedure TYPES, not a a procedure...inside, the Gastric Bypass RBY is all the same. Maybe its a typ, b/c you are expected to lose 70-80% of your weight not 70-80lbs. Good Luck! Ask your dtr how much he plans on bypassing?

I can smell food and gain weight, too, so I wanted to tell you I sympathize totally. You're almost to the big consult so hang in there. If you put on a few pounds, is it the end of the world? No! You're going to have your surgery and be on the losing side before you know it. Try not to worry too much. God brought you to this and will bring you through it! Can't wait to hear all about your appointment!

Hi Renee. I am having the same problems as you are. I just spoke with my surgeons office. They said that because I am not on any medications for co-morbidities that my insurance may not cover the surgery. I have an appt. on Friday to have a complete physical and labwork. I know how you feel. I can't walk very far, can't chase my 18 month old son, can't run and play with my daughters. But apparently that is not enough for insurance companies. I'm not trying to bring you down, I'm just telling you that your not alone. I will pray for you that things will work out for your good. Please do the same for me. God bless you.

Renee, Just wanted to stop in and say good luck on your journey to getting WLS. I started around 145 lbs over weight with no comorbities. (Except just plain ole feeling tired most of the time) My insurance approved mine. Just trying to give some hope to you. Let me know if I can help in any way.
