Hi Karin, I hope you have an uneventful surgery and a speedy recovery. I'll be right behind you on the losing side as I am having my Lap RNY on 10/13/03. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Karin, Just 10 more days until the big day! You wrote me some encouraging words about 2 months right before my surgery, now two months have passed and now it is your turn. These last two months have been absolutely life changing for me, when I had the surgery my BMI was 50.1 and now it is ~43. In two months you will know what a blessing this surgery will be in your life. My prayers will be with you and your family. Ten days and counting. God Bless, Ivi

Hi Karin...re: your post today...I think, once we decide to have surgery, many of us SUDDENLY become aware of our size, whereas before we were just coasting along, perhaps in denial. I know, for me, once my PCP referred me for surgery, I didn't even want to go out of the house! Suddenly, I actually looked in the full-length mirror (for the first time in years)...and I couldn't believe I had gotten so big. I was like, OMG..why didn't someone TELL me! (because people love you and wouldn't dare insult you) So, just focus on your consult date which is coming up soon, and know that what you're feeling is normal. And before you know it, you'll be a post-op, and able to walk those aisles at Home Depot with ease...plus so many other things! Hugs, Joy (14.5 months post-op open RNY, -101 lbs.)
