Nicole, I had my surgery on Tues. Mar.26. I was able to come home the following Friday. Walk about 5 times a day and try to get out of bed on your own when you do, it will strengthen your tummy. Take an eggcrate foam mattress, the mattress' at the hospital are lined in plastic and bunch up under you and can get sweaty and uncomfortable. I had Dr Melkonian too. He usually visits you first thing early in the morning between 7:00-8:00 am. If you don't like to just drink water then eat icecubes. If you have someone with you that can take you walking frequently throughout the day even better. The nurses are swamped there and I don't know if I could have walked as much as I did if it weren't for my husband being there to take me. Some things to consider. If you have any questions email me and I pray for God's presence over you and over the surgeons and all involved. God be with you and stay in constant prayer with him.

Nicole, I am wishing you a successful, complication-free surgery and a smooth, quick recovery. I had my open RNY on 12/10/01 and have absolutely NO regrets other than not having this surgery several years sooner. It is, without a doubt, the best thing I could have done for myself. God bless you as you start your healthy new life.
