10/7/02 - I am so excited! Today I got a call from Kat at Dr. Simonowitz's office telling me that we got insurance approval and that my surgery is scheduled for November 11, 2002! I am very excited and feeling a little in shock right now that this is really going to happen! I have wanted this for such a long time now!! I was a little worried, because initially I had no co-morbidities other than back and knee pain. However, my doctor ordered a sleep study on a hunch that I may have sleep apnea. The diagnosis came in on Thursday (only four days ago) that I have a mild form of sleep apnea. We submitted my sleep study results to Cigna on Thursday afternoon and had our approval within only four days! My pre-op appointment is on November 5, so I'll keep updating as I get closer to the big day!

8/20/02 - I found out today that Cigna requires a Psych evaluation before approving the surgery, so I am in the process of lining that up. This will postpone the approval process a bit, but hopefully not too long.
