I wish you the best - and hope that your sugery was successful and uneventful. I had mine the same day (8/1). I am home and doing well -- very amazed at how well, thank G-d for that! Peace, Dan Krueger Boston, MA

Kim's home and doing fine; still on lortab for a few days for the pain; she'll probably be on and post in a bit, she's resting now because she didn't get a lot of sleep at the hospital. Thanks again to all for your thoughts and prayers.

Kim was up and walking around today - did 2 small laps, then 1 big/1 small lap, then 2 big laps (small lap = around the small square in the figure 8 setup, big lap = around the outside; those who have been in the a-c wing understand :-) She's off morphine, on percocet; still has some gas pain from the lap, but is doing well & faithfully using her spirometer (with some reminders from me ;-) ). Valerie stopped in to visit again today (thanks Valerie!!!) She's off IV now and was off catheter this morning shortly after the X-ray; X-Ray went very well; no problems seen. With any luck, she might be home tomorrow, and if not, she should be home on Monday. She's also on regular food & shakes now, starting with lunch. Mashed potates, lo-cal jello, pureed fruit for lunch; cottage cheese, lo-cal pudding and broth for dinner, protein shake for a snack... has tolerated everything with no problems yet... Fingers still crossed :-)

Kim, Glad you made it through the surgery with no problems. You'll be home and exercising before you know it. Congratulations! Mare

Kim made it through her surgery fine; was in surgery a little less than 3 hours; recovery about 2 1/2 hours, and is resting in her room (on morphine and toradol :-) ). Many thanks to all for their thoughts and prayers - ...Nick

Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others, It is because we are different that each of us is special. Don't set your goals by what other people deem important, Only you know what is best for you. Don't take for granted the things closest to your heart Cling to that as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless. Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or the future. By living your life one day at a time, you live all the days of your life. Don't give up when you still have something to give Nothing is really over … until the moment you stop trying. Don't be afraid to admit that you are less than perfect, It is the fragile thread that binds us to each other. Don't be afraid to encounter risks, It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave. Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give love. The fastest way to lose love is to hold on too tightly, And the best way to keep love is to give it wings. Don't dismiss your Dreams. To be without dreams is to be without hope. To be without hope is to be without purpose. Don't run through life so fast that you forget where you've been, But also know where you're going. Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored every step of the way.

Kim, You must be getting so anxious and nervous all at the same time. I know that I was when it was my turn. You will be just fine. May God keep a watchful eye on you and guide you though a smooth surgery and a speedy recovery. Dont forge tot call me tonight if you need me, I wont bother you. I see you like feeding your birds, I do as well. Maybe sometime we will have the opportunity to sit and watch them together and talk about the old dys when we used to be overweight. LOL. Take care. See you tomorrow sometime. Please have Nick call me if I'm not there when you come out. Take care.
