Hey, Heidi!! How are you doing? It sounds like you and I are having similar journeys. But just so you don't think all is lost, I had a very good day today. I feel almost normal for once. I did well with my food, went to work with little trouble and am not dead tired at 9:00 at night. There IS hope! I hope you are doing well! As of this morning I am down 28lbs. People at work are noticing....it's kind of strange! But in a good way! Well, just wanted to tell you to hang in there, things do get better and the more active you are, the better you feel. Talk to you soon! Oh! By the way, my next visit to BTC is the 25th of September....so I don't suppose you'll be there at the same time, eh? We'll have to work on getting together when we both feel up to it! Talk to you soon!

Heidi, it was really great to read your post. Even though you may not feel all that great right now, seeing your post tells me that you are on the mend and in the healing mode. You are very fortunate to have Sherman, He is indeed a sweetie, and I know he is very concerned about your wellbeing. As the hours and days go on you will start feeling better and your strength will increase. Kudos that you got a pain patch. They are pretty helpful, especially at times like these. Call when you can or need to talk. I will always be with you in thoughts. Irene

Hi Amos friends! I had my surgery Wednesday, August 15th and made it home yesterday afternoon. Boy, what a trip these last few days have been! I was very nervous in pre-op, and when Dr. Boe came in to talk to me, he seemed to calm my nerves somewhat. Then I was rolled into the OR and next thing I remember is waking up in some pain. It was very hard getting up and walking and doing my breathing tests, as I kept falling asleep, and the nurses would wake you up at all hours of the night. I had to take my leak test friday morning and about 40 minutes later, the very nice man who took the x-rays came back with about 3/4 of a dixie cup filled with that nasty drink (barium)? as Dr. S had ordered further testing...I was so afraid something was wrong(bowel obstruction or something)---well, about 50 minutes later a nurse came in with some ice chips, and let me tell you----it was heaven finally getting to have something cold and moist in my mouth that I could actually swallow! Later friday, after tests came out ok and my IV came out I was supposto start liquid vicodin....Oh NO! I couldnt stand to even put that stuff near my lips or nose...just the thought or sight of it made me nauseated(sp?), so after going back and forth with a nurse, she finally gave me a shot, then one more about 4 1/2 hours later. When Dr. S. ame in to talk to me and discharge me, he told me he wrote an RX for liqids pain meds, and I told him please, no, I cannot tolerate the liquids, so he ordered a patch for me that lasts 3 days, and re-wrote a rx for 3 more! Thank You DR. S! The only part I was very disappointed about was that I did not see Dr. Boe in the hospital after surgery--not even once! I am just thankful that everything went fine and that I am at home! Sherman has been so wonderful through this whole experience! I could have never had made it through WLS without him! A very special thank you to Irene for being such a wonderful angel! You are the best! Also thank you to everyone of you who posted to my surgery page with your kind words and well wishes.------God is sooo good! Peace! ~Heidi

~~^j^~~Angel Update. I spoke with Heidi, earlier today and she is doing much better. She said today, the doctors thought she had a problem with the leak test and she had to repeat it. The dye was yuck!! and she thought she would have a problem, but finally everything was Okay. Her I.V. and foley are out and she had her first shower since surgery. Tomorrow, Heidi should be going home. Take a moment and stop by her surgery page and welcome her home!! This ^j^ Angel Thanks you all for your support, prayers, and kind words for Heidi. ^j^~~Angel Update. Just got off the phone with Heidi and she sounds great, very little pain, just sleepy. She did not have an NG Tube in and has been up walking 2 times now. She stated that she feels nauseous, but is still NPO. I am so happy that she is on the other side safely. Will post more later~~~Irene~~~

^j^ Angel Update and Flying on Cloud 9. Yipee!! Thanks to you all for your good thoughts and prayers and to God, Heidi is now officially on the other side. Just got off the phone (Ill. time) with Sherman, her sweetie and he said everything went well and Heidi is in recovery. It has been a long day for Heidi and her family as she had to be at the hospital at 9 a.m., but did not have the surgery till 1 p.m. Heidi is surely a trooper, hanging in there and waiting in the pre-op suite. Sherman, said she was nervous, but very happy that this was her day. Whoohooo!!!! Please take a moment and stop by her page and wish her a good recovery. This ^j^ Angel Thanks you all and doing the Happy Dance for Heidi. Well post more later after I get to talk with Heidi.~~Irene~~
