Hello again, this is Janessa again. I would just like all of you to know that Mom is home right now, although she is staying with her parents, as they have an adjustable bed! Everything is going fine, she is feeling a little better each day, still dealing with some nausea. She is not so much down about the whole surgery thing anymore, right now, she is just concentrating on dealing with the nausea, and getting healthy, and getting enough fluids in. Thanks again, and I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestion for me, on how I can help her in any way possible please let me know, I just feel so helpless at this time. Please e-mail me at [email protected] Thanks so much for all you have done!! God Bless! :) Janessa

Ruth, I am sorry to read that your are having a tough start after surgery. Hang in there! The first 2 weeks are the toughest after an open but it will get a little better each day. And, believe me, it is so worth it. I hope you are soon feeling much better and the rest of your recovery goes smoothly. A WLS friend,

Hello, this is Janessa Rice, Ruth's daughter..... I was just writing to let you all know that her surgery went GREAT!!!!! She is a little sore, and tired all the time, but she is coming along really well. She had minor problems with her throat swelling, but the doctor said that it was normal, and the swelling would go down. She really wants to come home...and as of now if everything goes well, she will be discharged at 8:30 Thursday morning. :) Well that's just a really brief up date. I'll talk to everyone, and I'll keep you all posted... Thanks for the prayers, they were greatly appricated!!! :) God Bless!! JANUARY 2, 2001 I went back to columbus today to visit mom. She wasn't feeling the greatest today. Her throat was really really bothering her. Her swelling still hasn't let up any, and she was having a very emotional day. The whole time that I was there today from 1:00 pm. to 4:00 pm. she was vomitting. She was really embarassed by it, and she was kinda of regretting even doing the whole surgery, but I just kept telling her that everything will get better. I think she was a little discourage because 2 of the 4 people that had the opperation done on Monday got to go home this s'moring. But she will be fine hopefully, she was a little dehydrated today so they also threaten to put the IV back in, but as of 7:00 they haven't had the need to. So hopefully tommorrow, I will be able to go and bring her home. Please just keep her and our family in your prayers, THANKS SO VERY MUCH!! Janessa
