Karen, Congratulations!!! I was very pleased to know everything went well for you. I could tell that you were drained but on the road to recovery when I spoke to you. I was hoping to see you on Friday evening, but my mother is now in the hospital and I could not get through to your room to check on you again later in the day. I am so sorry that I did not get up there to see you. Keep up the good spirits and have a speedy recovery. God Bless You Karen!!! Love, Diane...

September 27, 2001 Karen has successfully crossed over to the "other side," and God has once again answered our prayers. I had tried to get in touch with Karen yesterday, but the hospital kept saying that she wasn't in her room. I was so relieved when her husband, Spence, called me to relay the good news. They had to be at BTC at 9:30, and Karen was Dr. Bistolarides' third surgery of the day. I guess the person before her took much longer than anticipated, for Karen didn't have the surgery until around 4:00 P.M. I bet that was the longest wait of her life. But, Karen, I know you won't believe me today, but it will all be worth it!:) I called Karen's room about 7:00, for I thought her husband would answer. I was amazed when she answered the phone herself. I doubt if she will remember that she talked to me, but at least I knew that she was out of surgery. Once again I called Karen this morning. She was not feeling well, for she said that she was very nauseated. Consequently, I only talked to her a second so that she knows that we are thinking about her and praying for her rapid recovery. I have decided not to visit Karen until tomorrow since she will feel more like visitors then. I am very excited to meet her and also spend time with my dear angel, Diane Lizyness, who is going to meet me there. We are both bringing our hubbies, so we're all looking forward to seeing Karen and Spence. You remain in our thoughts and prayers, Karen!

I talked to my dear friend late last night. She seemed so relaxed and ready for the surgery. Karen is nothing like I was, for I was so nervous and worried about dying. She's extremely positive and knows that Dr. Bistolarides is an outstanding surgeon. I have also been able to encourage her, for I am so thankful to God that I had the surgery. Karen's husband Spence, and her two daughters are accompanying her to Forest Health Medical Center. They were to arrive this morning at 9:30, which would mean that the surgery will take place around 11:00 A.M. I was going to visit Karen today, but from experience, I know that she won't want visitors the first day. Karen said that her hubby doesn't like to make phone calls so I have not heard anything yet about the surgery. I just called the nurse's station, but they weren't able to give me any information yet. I will keep everyone posted as soon as a learn anything. My thoughts and prayers are with Karen and her family on this day of celebration when she crosses over to the other side.

I also have the same surgery date Sept 26th. I also have founded a support group so that we can go through this transistion together. If I have already invited you I ask you to reconsider and join the fun. We are giving each other some great last minute tips and will join in a big chat the eve before our surgery. Once you join then you can send invitations out to family and friends who needs some advice and support during this journey to the otherside. If you are a inactive member I ask you to give us a holler an don't forget to check in when you return home. Each and every person having surgery with me will be on my prayer list when I am going into surgery. I hope to hear from you soon. E-mail me at [email protected] for more information. God Bless and Be Well Vanessa

My Dear Friend, Karen, This is your angel reporting for duty! I am so very excited for you, for your time is rapidly approaching. The surgery is the best thing I have done for myself in years. You have the best doctor and the greatest facility, so I know that you will be fine. The first couple of days are not so pleasant, but after that, it is smooth sailing. You will remain in my prayers this week, until God takes you safely through the surgery to the other side. An exciting, fantastic life is waiting for you; you will feel so much better and your knees won't be so painful. I will call you soon. God bless you and your family this final week before surgery. Happy eating!!! Enjoy all those fats and sweets which you will never be eating again. Actually, I no longer have the desire for them!:)

Karen, I can't believe you are down to less than two weeks to go...I only have a month to go. See how time flies,,lol...I am still going to come and see you while you are in. Mickeys surgery was moved up to the 19th. I am going to become a regular up at that hospital. Thats alright because we need to be each others support teams. Again, I wish you the best of luck and my prayers and thoughts are with you. Love, Diane...

Karen, I am so glad that I get to be the first person to post a greeting to you. I wish you the best and will follow your recovery very closely. You will be having surgery the same day as my friend Mickey Mobley. I will be there to wish you both a Happy Rebirthday!!! God Bless You and watch over you until you have successfully reached the other side. Then you can be waiting for me to join you soon. We are gonna have to all go out afterwards around our 1 year anniversaries, since yours, Cheryls, Mickeys and my surgeries were all within months of each others. We will organize our own little "losers" click...with Love and hugs to you, Diane
