"01-25-04 I recently attended a seminar for Emory Bariatrics. They are the only ones around that are still doing VBG. While my ins does not have a doc supervised wt loss diet in the last six months as a requirement, they still won't approve w/out it. Had I known this I would have been doing so w/ my PCP. Now I am likely held off another six to eight months. I see my PCP tomorrow and I will see if there is anything she can do to speed this up. I have my first consult with Dr. Burrowes on November 6, 2003. I am back from my consult. I was very impressed w/ Dr. B. He is obviously very intelligent and wants what is best for his patients. My only issue was that he says he does six WLS surgeries but will only do RNY or Fobi. So which is it? Six or two? I thought his nurse was really nice and friendly. The woman who came in the room right before I left to give me some extra info was argumentative and rude. She tried to tell me that I had to have a Dr. supervised WL program for BCBS - that is for the PPO. So far, the HMO does not require it. I left the office feeling discouraged and mad at myself for not setting up consults w/ other docs months ago. Now I will have to wait another few months to get in w/ anyone else for comparision. "
