Hi Julie! I am glad that you are doing well also. I have been going to Good-Will & thrift stores for clothes also. It is a good way to pick up cute clothes on the way down. I don't know about you, but I wore enough "baggy" clothes in the past to cover up...now I want things to fit, as my weight comes down. If I want something sweet, I usually have natural sugar, like fruit. I did try a child size ice cream cone, and paid for it with nausea for an hour. It is not worth it. I feel so much better, and lighter. I have normal blood sugars now...no medications at all. You and I have paralleled in so many ways. I am into 16's and 14's also. Doesn't it feel great? Keep up the good work! Stay in touch. Traci :)

J, it was so good to hear from you! I am glad that you are feeling better. About Schroder's office...He and Debbie are so nice...but, Joyce at the front desk leaves a lot to be desired. "Triffling" is one of the words that I'd use. I was happy to hear about your new job! I am sorry if I was flaky the night you came to see me, the anesthesia I guess...I stopped using the morphine the 2nd day...it made me feel weird. I have been averaging a pound a day weight loss. I am actually starting to see it in my clothes, so it really seems "real". I am sorry about my e-mail. I have had a lot of problems with msn's hotmail. Please feel free to call me.... 779-3636...I am off every Wed, Thur, Fri and Sunday. I would love to compare notes with you. I haven't been to one of the support group meetings yet...but would like to. I am going to counseling to work on behavior modification. I feel like I need it in order for this to work long term. Take care, and hope to hear from you soon. Thank you again for my stained glass angel...Traci

Congratulations on your surgery! The next year is going to be the most amazing of your life. I just want to let you know that here in the beginning is the toughest part. You will feel better than normal soon! These first few weeks and the surgery will only be a memory and you will be on to your new life. I am 10 months post op and I have lost nearly 130 pounds. I went from a size 24 to a 4 in a little over 6 months. Miracles do and will happen for you. I have tried to keep a profile that can be used as a resource. That answers all of the questions that I had when I was in your shoes. And links to various places to do more of your own research. If you have any questions or just need someone to talk to that understands please feel free to email me. Hi J, I am glad to hear that you are doing so well. I was worried about you, because I had not heard anything. The diarrhea thing is normal...at least for me too. I have been taking "beano" before all meals...what a help with the gas! I am back at work part-time...I can not believe it myself...2 weeks and 2 days after surgery. I am so thankful that we have both done so well. I think that it speaks well of Dr. Schroder's skills, and of laproscopic surgery...it is amazing. I hope that you continue to do well...Traci

It’s been ONE WEEK since surgery and I think I’m on right recovery track. I had laparoscoptic surgery so I’m sure I’m not in as much pain as an “open” patient would be. But I have to say that there is still a burning pain-like feeling on my left side (where my new pouch is?). Every time I take the smallest sip of water, I feel a slight pressure in my chest then a little burp and I feel fine! I’ve been slowly choking down 2 – 3 CIBs a day as well as about 24 – 30 oz of water. Each day I’m getting more water in. Today after my pain-medicated-induced nap, I woke up with a sour stomach. I drank about ¼ of my Met-RX protein drink and had to stop because I felt/feel so nauseous. I’m continuing to sip water, but my stomach is still upset. WARNING – the following is very gross, but I need to know if this is normal: I’m afraid to pass gas unless I’m sitting on the pot. Each time there’s this diarrhea type stuff that comes out (there’s no pain and no smell), but it’s just yucky. Is that from the CIB or just my system starting back up? I have an appointment with my doctor this Wednesday. OH! THANK YOU FOR ALL THE WELL WISHES! This is a great support forum and it’s so helpful to so many people – including me! Thank you!

Jillian, I hope that your surgery went well this morning. I want to update everyone, like you did for me, but you never gave me your real last name or phone number; so, I can't call the hospital or your home to find out how you are. You came to see me in the hospital, and called me, which I appreciated, ...I just wanted to return the favor. I wish you the best in your surgery and recovery.
