Hi Everyone! Angel report. I came home from the hospital last night and I spoke to Elaine this mornng. She had been running a slight fever for several days and last night it turned into a 103 degree alarm. One of her incisions was infected and Dr. Garber came to drain it at 11 PM on 5/19/01. Immediately her fever was relieved and she felt immediate improvement in her physical well being. She is on IV antibiotics and blood tests revealed a problem in her clotting time so she is now taking vitamin K supplements. She sounded much better this morning at about 11 AM. I will keep you all informed on her progress, please keep her in your hearts and pray for her recovery, and send well wishes to her surgery page to cheer her up! Karen

Elaine, I just read your update from your angel. I am so glad to see that all went well. Hopefully I will see you at the next support group. I am scheduled for surgery May 22. Looks like so far all is going well. May God give you strength during your recovery. Again, I am so glad to hear that you made it through the surgery. Ellen

I went to see Elaine at the hospital today. She made it through her surgery with no complications! She was in some pain, but she said it was bearable with the pain medication they have her on. She passed her Upper G.I. test with flying colors! No leaks! Way to go Dr.Garber! Starting today she was given 1 oz. of water per hour. By tonight she was on clear fluids (broth, jello, etc..). Her only complaints were a dry mouth and an itchy nose. She's a real trooper! Dr.Garber says she may be able to come home tomorrow or Saturday. If I were her, I'd wait the extra day. She deserves a break after all she's been through. Once she's home, it's back to running to dance classes and cooking John's dinners...LOL. Enjoy it while you can Elaine! You're just as sweet in person as you are online. I miss our chats. Congratulations again! It's been a rough and rocky road, but you finally made the trip you've been waiting for. Best of luck with your new happy & healthy life! (((HUGS))) XOXOXO

As some of you know, Elaine's Angel (Karen) had surgery the same day, so it's impossible for her to post updates. Therefore, I am taking it upon myself to step in as her assistant Angel. I don't have much to tell you right now other than she passed over safely to "the other side". When I tried calling her today, she was still in surgery. Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to speak with her yet, but I plan on visiting her tomorrow and will fill you in. I had to go out tonight for one of my many "Last Suppers" at my favorite restaurant...lol. I am scheduled for surgery on 6/1 so there's not much time left. I'm thrilled to hear that both her and Karen finally made it to the other side after all they've been through. I'll keep you posted as I learn more.
