Basil Meyerowitz

"I met Dr. Meyerowitz on my Orientation Meeting at Kaiser So. San Francisco. He is an older gentleman who has been performing this surgery for more than 30 years. He is very experienced and knowlegeable, and convinced me that in order to have permanent weight loss, this surgery is necessary. He sounds a lot like Sean Connery when he speaks, so I enjoyed listening to him. I haven't had my personal consult with him yet (due to a change in surgeons). I will meet with him next Tuesday the day before my March 13th, 2002 surgery date. His staff is awesome! I've learned so so much from Kaiser! My thanks to LISA, GITTY, & NADIA, and the entire staff, and support group, for your support and encouragement, and teaching. Dr. Meyerowitz only performs the Open-RNY and not the Lap-RNY, partly because he says you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but he really feels strongly that performing the surgery open is much safer than Laproscopically because doing it open, you can see what you're doing and get a better staple line which helps prevent leaks, which can be very serious. I lost my friend due to her having a Lap-RNY which developed a leak, and led to perionitis. "
