After a year, I'm giving in and getting refilled. :)

Jul 29, 2008

I tried dieting on my own without my band about 2 months ago. I did really well for about two weeks. I had an ionic cleanse to detox my body from all the toxins clinging to my fat cells and lost 10 pounds! Total I only lost 11 pounds but of course put 7 back on slowly.

I then discovered after trying to get pregnant for 6 months that I potentially had PCOS again. ARG! Why am I doing this to myself?? Why can't I allow myself to be successful? My mother offered to pay for my lapband fill. It's $250 selfpay since my insurance doesn't cover anything to do with obesity. So I went in on July 25th and finally got my band filled. They gave me 4.5 cc's to start. The doctor said that my esophagus, stomach, band, everything looked perfectly normal. He didn't agree with the assessment that his partner had given me a year ago. I was relieved but angry that I have to pay $6000 for an incorrect diagnosis. But the past is the past and I'm looking forward.

In four days time I have lost 9.5 pounds!!! It's so hard to get back to the chew chew chew way of eating. I made myself stick to only liquids for the first two days and I think that really helped. But it's challenging. Starting over always is.

Pray for me!

Second week of January

Jan 06, 2008

I did really well last week, ate a protein shake in the morning - lean cuisine for lunch - and a low carb dinner. I'm not eating anything after 7, drinking nothing but water and NO SWEETS. That's my biggest craving. I've always had a sweet tooth, but I also feel entitled to dessert after every meal. That's sad. So my weak time is from 7 - whenever I go to bed. I have insomnia so I go to sleep between 11pm -3am everynight. I'm hoping that if I stay away from sugar, I'll be more tired at night. I did not eat perfectly over the weekend. It shows too. Back to the regiment. That's what is important, if you cheat don't just quit and think I can't do it. Get back to the diet.

2008 check in

Jan 03, 2008

So, I haven't logged in since May ~ probably since that was when I stopped losing weight. I began having problems with my band and threw up for 5 months straight. I couldn't keep anything good down, so I started eating the easy mushy stuff. You know, icecream, m&m's -- the works. Slowly but surely I packed on 15 pounds. In September, I went to see my surgeon who admitted me into the hospital. They were very concerned and angry that I hadn't called them. My insurance changed in February of last year (I HATE ANTHEM THEY SUCK AND DON'T COVER "OBESITY" OR ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH IT) so I was afraid of the prognosis. Long story short, hospitalized for two days with multiple tests only to find out that I now have a herniated esophagus. For life. So they emptied my band. It's now January, I have gained an additional 35lbs (if you're keeping count that's 50 lbs since May) and owe $15k to the hospital because my insurance is refusing to pay anything. So I have decided to get back on the diet horse, along with all the other new years dieters and do it myself. I'm taking the knowledge of all the diets I have had in the past and making one big SUPER DIET. I started on the first and so far have lost 5.5 pounds. WOO WHO! I am keeping track of this to hold myself accountable, because if I have learned anything in this process of lapband hell, it's that no one and no thing can do it for me. :) RE
