-250 pounds

Aug 30, 2009

It has now been 27 months since my weight loss surgery.  I have lost an amazing amount of weight and feel great about that.  Eight months ago I quit losing weight.  So 3 months ago I increased my workouts to twice a day.  You see even with the WLS I still have great cravings for chocolate and still eat it every day.  I know, I am bad.  But over the summer with the increase workouts I started losing weight again, so far about 20 pounds.  I work VERY hard now for every pound I loss and feel like I am making a great accomplishment.  I still struggle daily with the sight of all my excess skin.  Insurance will only pay for a lower tummy tuck, so I am waiting till next summer when I will have some money so I can get upper tummy skin removed also.  However, unless I win the lottery, I will always be stuck with all the excess skin on my arms and legs.  This has been very hard for me to deal with.  Yes I am so much healthier but I am also still a side show when out in public with all the excess skin.  I use to hate winter time, but I am at the point now where I look forward to it so I can wear jeans and a long sleeve shirt to cover up all the skin.  I don't want to discourage anyone from having wls, for I would do it again in a New York heart beat.  And most wls patients lose an average of 100 pounds and i lost 2 1/2 times that amount, with 25 more pounds to go till goal.  So please don't let this discourage anyone from having wls.  I am just writing this so everyone knows where I am at, at this time.
