Ok, so I had the VSG on last Monday 2/2/15. I was nervous and excited at the same time. I believe my only fear was not waking up after going under. My experience in the hospital (Ocala Regional Medical Center) was rocky after the surgery. I asked for pain medicine for four hours...my family members pressed the button to contact the nurse, I personally informed her and the techs that came in and her comes another nurse at 7 pm (3 hours later) saying he had never gotten the message. By this time I was feeling as the I was having a seizure. The pain was so intense.
At 7:15 pm, a new set of nurse came in and stayed with my until the pain subsided. My experience for then on was great!
Today, I walked 4 miles. I am still in pain (the incision areas) and believe that I may be doing a little to much too fast. I know for sure that I am not getting the appropriate amounts of food in. This is because my stomach won't allow me to consume much and I am not hungry for anything. I had a 2 teaspoons of oatmeal, a protein drink, a few sips of water and Gatorade, and broth the whole day. I am shooting for the 80 grams of protein since I know that this is the most important. I am and will follow my diet as recommended by the doctor. I promised myself that I will not cheat and move through the diet phases too fast. This year there will be a HEALTHIER ME!
I am determined to succeed! I went out with my family to a restaurant this weekend and didn't even get hungry for anything. I took my broth in with me and sip on it like it was a steak and potatoes. After three or four sips I put it away and was SATISFIED!!
I feel good! I am ready to see results. Since my last visit to the surgeons office 1/28/2015 I have lost 10 pounds 299 to 288. I purchased a new digital scale and everytime I get on it shows a different number so I really don't know what is accurate. I usually chose the highest number. I DON'T WANT TO CHEAT MYSELF!
I have ZERO regrets about have the surgery. I am ready to be HEALTHY! A transformation is on its way and I am looking forward to it!
