Three Months Since Joining This Site!

Dec 29, 2010

Well, I just realized it has been three months since I joined O.H, and I just want to say A big THANK YOU to the site, and to all of the people on it! I has been given so much encouragement on this site, and so much helpful advice, as well as talked with people who have encouraged me personally, and had some of my fear relieved through this wonderful network of people. When I am here, I am not ashamed of who I am or how much I weigh, I am learning that the person inside of me no matter what size, deserves to be loved, and respected, and no matter what, deserves to live a healthy, happy life. Finally for the first time in 16 years, I am thinking about me, and making the right choices for myself! To all of you out there who are considering making a change to be more healthy, I hope you do it for yourself, because you are so worth it! To all that have already started on the journey to better health, hang in there, and thanks so much for helping to motivate me to do the same. Happy Happy New Year everyone!!!     Much love, Robin

Three weeks out!

Nov 18, 2010

A GOOD MORNING TO YOU ALL, sorry it has been awhile since the last post, I have had  Internet issues, and have been unable to get on line for almost a week. I hope everyone is doing well, and getting ready for Thanksgiving! This is the time of year when I start to put back on the weight that I tried so hard to lose over the spring, and summer months, but this year is going to be different, and for that, I am truly grateful. Instead of focusing on all the different foods, and all the baked goods, my mind is on how happy I am to have my wonderful kids, my family, friends, and my increasingly better heath! More and more everyday, I am realizing how much my mind, and life was about food, and how that has taken me away from all of the things in my life that I am truly grateful for.  I have so many things to look forward to, and have been blessed with. Having the WLS is not only changing my body, and health, it is changing the way I live my life, and for that, I am so truly blessed! Since my surgery on Oct.26Th, I have lost 20 pounds as of last Friday when I saw my Doctor. I am so grateful for Dr.Zare, and Ben. I could not have asked for anyone better to give me my new way of life! They are so caring, and always have time to help you with whatever you need. I am so very blessed to have the doctor I have, and will be forever grateful to him, and his staff!

10 Days Since Surgery, And Feeling Great!!!

Nov 05, 2010

Well, I made it! I am now 10 days out since my RNY, and I am feeling great! I am so happy to be saying that since this time last week, I was still very sore, and had a pain on the lower left side of my abdomens that would feel like I was being stabbed every time I got up from being down, and from down to back up, but now it is sooo much better!! I am still sore, but it is not that bad at all. I am more active now, and getting back into my normal routine. I see my doctor a week from today, and I am very curious to how much I will have lost by then.  am getting all my fluids in, and am not having any problems with foods so far. I am now on the purred stage for a week, then onto soft foods. I am looking forward to that! Well that's it for now, Thank you so much for all of the people who were praying for me, and wishing me well, It made all the difference! Hope everybody has a fabulous weekend! Bye for now.

Well I'm just about to get in the shower, so I can get on my way to have my surgery! I just wanted to tell anyone out there who is wanting or waiting for this to happen for them, I know it is hard to wait, and decide if this is what you really want, but just try to be patent, and it will happen if, and with the doctor it is meant to happen with. A few months ago, I thought I would never be able to have this done, then the right people,at the right time came out of the blue, and I thank GOD every day for this opportunity! Thank you for all of you out there who are supporting me, and praying for me, Thanks a bunch Ambur! It means so much! I will post as soon as I get home, and able to log on! Away I go to start my Journey, I'm so happy, and hopeful!

Just under 48 hrs till my new life begains!!!

Oct 24, 2010

Wow, as I sit here sipping down my last pre surgery protein shake, I can not believe that the day I have been hoping, and waiting for , for what feels like so very long is finally almost here! Am I nervous, Little, but not about the surgery. I guess the reason I'm not is because I have complete faith in my doctor, second, and first of course, i have faith in the LORD! I know that he will be holding me in his loving hands while he will be guiding my surgeons hand through the entire operation. The thing that I am nervous about thigh is that i hope I am able to tolerate getting in all of the protein, and nutrients I need to have, and not have to many issues with all that. As I have been reading about many peoples journeys on this site, I have read some that have no problems, and others that do, But  no matter what is in store for me, I believed with all my heart that I am meant to have this surgery, and It will be the best gift I can give to myself, and to my kids, husband, and the rest of my loving supportive family! I am very blessed to have all of them on my side, and want for me to have the best quality of life possible, and want me to help me to love, and believe in myself, as much as they do. They all have been so great to me, and I am very lucky that my husbands work insurance approved this for me, but even with that It would still cost me over 6,000 dollars to pay my part of it all, and without my loving grandparents providing the backing of my part of the pay, I would not be able to have this done. I thank GOD every day that he has given me all the wonderful people, and opportunities to get to the place that I am at right now in my life! I am ready to start this next phase no matter what is in store for me. I will do my very best every day to make all the right choices for myself, and for all of the people who love me so very much. I am ready for my brand new day, and to live it in a physically, mentally, and emotionally new  way!    Blessings to all

MY Road To Surgery

Oct 15, 2010

Well, just as my day was going on as normal, i got the call I had been hoping to get for over a year now. See I started my journey into getting my surgery last October, I got my appointment with a bariatric surgeon, went and got all the test I needed done for the surgery, then all I needed to do was wait for my insurance to get back to my surgeon for a approval. I thought I had nothing to worry about, but I was wrong. I got a call from the surgeon's office saying that I had been denied by my insurance. They said the insurance told then that my plan did not cover that kind of surgery, which was very confusing to me, because before I ever made a appointment with the doctor, I called my insurance to make sure that I would be covered, and was told yes. I was crushed! I thought for sure I was on my way to a healthier life, less back pain, doing things i couldn't do with my kids, and feeling better, like i did before I had gained all the weight. The surgeon told me that it wasn't over, that they would appeal, so i felt alittle better after that, but then the weeks after turned into months, and when I would call the doctors office, they would tell me just to wait, it takes time, and i believed them. well finally in July, I get a letter from the insurance telling me my appeal was denied because my doctors office didn't submit in the time frame allowed. I couldn't believe it, the doctors office told me they were on top of it, so when i called to tell them about the letter, and talk to the doctor, they told me they would have him call me back, but i never heard back from them. At that point I gave up on it. I knew without the insurance paying their part, there was no way I could afford it. Then, on August 15TH, I received a letter in the mail from my insurance telling me that they have a bariatric coordinator who would like to speak to me about my options, and to call her at the number listed. Options, what options, I thought I had none! So the next day, I called to talk to this woman, and she tells me that I do have coverage, and have had it, but I'm not covered unless I go to one of the doctors at a center of excellence. So she gave me the name of two doctors that were qualified, so the next day I called them, and the doctor called me the next morning and talked to me for about 20 min, and I had a appointment with him less than a week latter! I went and picked up all of my records from the first doctor, and took them in with me to my appointment, and since I did all that was required to have the surgery, he just had to submit to the insurance and waited for a approval. His office administrator, has been so great to me also. He has dealt with my insurance, and anything they have needed, and has been very caring, and compassionate to me! I cannot thank him and my doctor enough for making my dream come to a reality! I am ready to start my new, healthy, life! I am also so glad that my doctor told me about this website. I have really learned allot, and have read about allot of people, and their journeys, the good, and the not so easy. I hope to make lasting friends, and get, and give support when needed. Thank you all for your inspiration!!! Take Care, that's all for now!
