As with everyone  else I have a story to tell. I am the 5th child of 7 and all of have been or are overweight. I am no exception. I have been overweight most of my life from infancy to adulthood. I have been on just about every diet the rest of you have been on and have succeded in some and have failed in most. I decided a few years ago to pursue the weight loss surgery and with the help of my primary care Dr. I went to my first seminar and was not impressed the Dr.s never showed up and the nurses tried to wing it and I decided I would pursue other hospitals and was lucky enough to find Oakwood Hosp. in Dearborn,Mi.  From the very begining I knew this was the right place for me, the Dr. (Bacal) was very personable and very informative. The Nurse (Terry Marentette) was herself a By-Pass patient and very knowlegable. I decided to have the Lap_band surgery and after all the testing and classes I was scheduled for surgery on 5/2/06. The surgery went well and I lost around 24lbs. total not good enough for me.... I felt miserable...... I talked it over with Dr.Bacal and I decided I had made a mistake in my choice of surgeries and after doing more tests and classes I had the Lap-Band removed and had the RNY surgery on 2/20/07. This was the best decision I have made I finaly feel as though I can make this work. I don't feel sick all the time and am losing weight although not as much as He would like or expect from me but I am losing at my own pace. Since my second surgery I have lost 35lbs. and counting.
