I have several friends who have had gastric bypass. None of them are even overweight now. I knew them for years at the same size I am and now I've known them for months to years at normal weight. Needless to say I have been thinking of WLS for years. I had my second child about 1 year ago and know that I will not have anymore. So now I think is the best time to pursue this. My husband has been against it for a long time but after meeting a friend of mine who had surgery, he became more open. After studying this with me, he now is very supportive. I had all my workup completed by December and ready to schedule, then my company decided to change insurance companies and put in an exclusion for weight loss surgery. I pretty much hit rock bottom after that. Then my parents stepped in and decided to pay for half of the surgery if I could pay for the other half. So now I'm self pay. I will be having Lap RNY with band (Fobi pouch) on Jan 31st, 2007. I am very excited and scared. I hate surgery and become a nervous wreck beforehand. I've carefully chosen my surgeon and hospital and feel very confident with their statistics. I have completed my last pre-op eval with anesthesia and am ready to go. Any prayers during that week are appreciated! I'll try to keep my blog updated with my progess. Thanks for reading!
