One year Post Op Yeeeeee Hawwwwww!!!

Feb 24, 2008

Hi everyone!

I went to my surgeon on Wednesday for my one year post op follow up.  My labs were all terrific and he was so happy with me as I am myself!
I've lost a total of 145lbs.  I am no longer considered overweight and my BMI is perfectly normal now.  I feel so good.  This has been the most wonderful experience in my life!!!!!  I feel fantastic!

Good lluck and well wishes go out to all of you and especially the ones who have now made that all important decision tochange their life by having weight loss surgery.  It literally saved my life!

Update!

Dec 04, 2007

Geez, I didn't know it had been so long since I updated.  I did put a more recent pic dated 10-13-07 as you can see on my pics but I guess I didn't do my update.  Anyway, I'm doing great.  I'm down 135 lbs. now and only have about 12 or so more to go if I can stop at that.  ha ha  I'm into a size 10 pants basically, depends on who makes them.  Sweaters are still a Large pretty much but that beats a 3X.  ha ha  But I am much thinner than I have been in about 15 years.  I actually discovered I have a collar bone.  ha ha
After my one year follow up in Feb, if dr releases me, then I will consult with a plastic guy about an abdominoplasty.  I really need to have that done as much as I dread that beastly surgery.

That's is for now!  Merry Christmas and a safe New Year to all.

Love and Hugs!

July 28, 2007

Well, I'm a little over 5 months out now and have lost 107.  Also we went  to dinner last night and I slid right into a BOOTH and before I knew it I was laughing and told hubby, "AHA!  I'm in a booth AND I have my legs crossed!"  We both just laughed!  He is so proud of me and I am proud of myself because I feel soooooooooooo much better and healthier and have much more energy!  I don't have a new pic yet, but will try to do one before long!  I probably have about 40 to 50 more lbs. to lose.  That's it for now!

Hugs to all !

Almost 4 months out and I'm so excited!

Jun 18, 2007

WOW!  I went back to my surgeon yesterday!  I've lost 90lbs and my BMI has dropped from 45 to 35.  I had been a bit dizzy the past couple of weeks and it was because my BP was low, but not dangerously low.  Therefore, I got to go off my BP med and also my cholesterol med as my cholesterol is fantastic now.  I also got to go off of the Zantac twice a day, so that's FOUR less pills I have to take every day.  THAT made me so happy!  He said I am doing fantastic and I don't have to go back for 4 months.I've dropped 2 to 3 sizes in clothes.  What a great feeling!  I'm really pumped now!!!!  Thank you to everyone for all the support!  OH is wonderful !!!!!      Linda

OH MY GOSH!

May 25, 2007

OH MY GOSH!  I am so behind in posting!  We had a new home built and was busy moving and then had relatives visit from IL and hubby has a terrible leg ulcer and I have to take him down to UCLA every week.  Next week he is having surgery to have a bad vein removed from that leg.  Back to UCLA again and I'm sure weekly until that ulcer is healed.  It is huge!

Anyway, it's been three months now since my surgery and I am down 80 lbs.  WAHOOO!!!!!  I feel fantastic and have so much energy!  Sleep apnea was gone after the first 30 lbs and I can navigate and walk so much easier.  It is a tremendous feeling and I still probably have about 70 or so more lbs. to go!  Just wanted to let some of you know as I've not been in chat forever!!!

Three Weeks Post-Op

Mar 17, 2007

Ok, I've hit the three week post-op point and went to the surgeon.  I have lost 26 lbs. since surgery and 11 before so that's a total of 37 lbs.  I cannot believe how much better I feel already.  My sleep apnea is gone, I sleep much better and get into a deeper sleep for hours.  It is such a good feeling to have more energy and feel so much better mentally with just this little amount lost.  I don't have to go back for three months.  YAYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Later, kids!

Two weeks Post-Op

Mar 08, 2007

Well, I've reached the two week post-op point.   Everything is still just great!  I have tolerated any foods I've eaten, no problems at all.  Of course, I have followed the rules too.  I feel very blessed that I have no tolerance problems or any other problems at this point and keep waiting for the other shoe to drop.  lol

Just wanted to let everyone know how I am and to any of you who are considering or about to have wls, prayers and best of luck.  It is the most wonderful turn-around you can ever do for your life.

Went for one week post op

Mar 04, 2007

YAY!  I went for my one week post op on Friday, March 2nd.  Everything was great and I had lost 14 pounds in the week since surgery.  That combined with the 11 I lost prior to surgery since consultation brought it to a grand total of 25 pounds.  I'm happy!  I got to move on to a soft type pureed diet for the next two weeks.  I never thought a poached egg or refried beans could taste so good.  Also started my protein drinks and they are really good, I was surprised that they were so good, it was a stab in the dark when I bought them.  I got packs of 10 and there are different flavors and just mix them with 8oz of cold water and voila!
43 grams of protein.  I have one in the morning and one later in the evening as kind of a snack and boom!  I've got 86g of protein for the day just from those.  I really enjoy them.  I was afraid they would taste like cardboard.  lol  So, dust off that loser's bench, I'm on my way pretty soon!

I'm home!!! YAYYYYYY!!!

Feb 26, 2007

YAYYYYYYYYYYYY!  I did it!  I had my lap rny on Friday morning and came home on Sunday afternoon.  I feel pretty good, somewhat sore but could be worse.  I feel a tad weak also, but think that is just from the anesthesia and from major surgery.  I'm sure it will just take a little time as I've been through major surgeries before.

I can't believe I did it, though. lol  I had such cold feet so many times and wanted to  back out, but knew I had to do this.  Now I'm so glad that part of it is over and on to the "new" me. I'm sure (by listening to others) I will have my moments but for now it is all great and I'm not hungry. That is a really good feeling not to feel like I'm always starving.

Just wanted to post a note to let everyone know I'm home and doing pretty good.

Friday, the 23rd is "D" day!

Feb 21, 2007

This Friday at 10:00 am is "D" day.  I will go to the hospital at 7:30 a.m. and my surgery is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.  I am hoping for an uneventful laparoscopic rny.  If all goes well and there are no problems I may come home the next day.  My surgery angel will post a message later on Friday on how I am doing.  Counting down...............
Make room on that losers bench as there's a wide load coming through.
